Last week I was a bit weepy. I read 2 blog posts and cried.
This was one and the other was simply an excerpt from The Velveteen Rabbit which gets me every single time.
I know.
Pa-the-tic.
It got me thinking about what else makes me cry;
1. SPCA commercials (really anything that shows animals in distress)
2. The Velveteen Rabbit – book
3. Charlotte's Web – movie and book
4. Love Story – book
5. Flowers for Algernon – book
6. Up! – movie
7. The Butterfly and the Diving Bell – movie (extremely good movie, if you haven't seen it…do!)
8. Babe – movie
9. Weddings
10. Anytime I see someone else cry I often feel I need to join in (just to be polite of course)
So there. You can see what a big cry baby I am.
Let me know I'm not weeping all on my own here. What makes you cry?
I cry, too. It’s an inevitable part of being sensitive. I don’t believe we need to apologize for it.
“Flowers For Algernon” was a great book. Did you see the movie “Charlie”? Excellent. “Up” is also great.
What especially makes me tear up are stories of loss, like when someone’s loved one dies. My empathy for their loss is intense.
Great post Suzanne! Ha, I love to cry, I am a recreational cryer! Charlotte’s Web also makes me weep (and my daughter’s name is Charlotte so it’s doubly emotional for me). Since I was a Navy brat anytime the news shows any servicemember coming home to their families after a deployment I cry and cry. It’s awful. I also lose it whenever anything related to September 11 is shown. I absolutely cannot see that stuff because it still feels to me like it happened yesterday.
I’m here to tell you, you do not cry alone, my dear! XO, Jill
The faucet comes on when I see cut Christmas trees on top of cars 🙁
aw gosh, I know what you mean. For me, if I’m watching a TV show that shows someone losing a loved one, I tear up! It gets me every time since I relate to the experience.

I am not a big cryer, but saying good-bye can get me, as well as witnessing any great kindness. I rarely cry at movies — maybe I cannot suspend my disbelief adequately!
Those commercials make me cry too! Pretty much anything with hurt or suffering animals just gets to me. I’m an animal lover for life 🙂
Oh, god, I cry so often, definitely when I see stories about true goodness in people’s hearts, or true evil inflicted on innocent people.
I just wrote a post to my children mentioning “Up.” No one in our family can watch it.
“Beaches” gets me every time.
Hearing a sweet story.
Seeing someone I love cry.
P.S. I really liked the post you linked to. It didn’t make me cry, but it did make me smile and think.

Who doesn’t get teary at the Velveteen Rabbit? Seriously.
I love this list. Feels like we get to know more about you 😀
Ha ha! I too must be a recreational cryer. ; )
TFS
You wouldn’t like being with me. I’d be slobbering all over you and you’d be telling me to keep my *hit together.
Ah Beaches…the quintessential gals crying movie : )
Okay…glad I’m not the only one : )
You are probably crying more now that the baby is almost here. All those extra hormones.
It does make me sad knowing there is one less living tree in the world.
Seems like old wounds are easily opened.
I think I did see that movie…years and years ago. And I’m sure I cried.
Anything loving, emotionally over the top (like saying goodbye on a train platform), babies, weddings, lots and lots. Especially soppy movies. I am a cry baby too.
