This is look #2 in my quest for 1940's goodness for the Swing Out To Victory dance we are going to this weekend.
The dress is from Cabaret Vintage on Queen West in Toronto. I need to say I LOVE this shop and the owner Tao. He is one of those rare people that you come across and know that they are doing the job they were born to do. He loves what he does and it really shows.
His collection grows every week. Most of it comes from one very large supplier, a vintage collector for over 40 years, now retiring, that rented outfits for the TV and film industry.
Apparently the collection is over 50,000 vintage pieces! Can you believe it? Most of them look like they have never been worn. I'm like a kid in a candy store every time I go.
Isn't the hat I bought at Sweet Trash divine?
It looks like a beret from the front so I'll be able to wear it more often. Great suggestion Terri!
I feel this photo is too close. When you can see my pores it's time to step about 10 steps back from the camera. Sadly since this is taken in our spare room I don't have the space.
I feel like I'm exposing myself a bit more than normal here.
Ah well. F*** it.
Oops…that's not very ladylike is it?
I will need to practise up on my ladylike etiquette before the dance.
The entire outfit is vintage except the shoes and hose.
I adore the collar of this dress. Can you see how it ties? So sweet.
So what do you think of look #2 compared to yesterday's look?
OMG Suzanne!!!! You are absolutely looking so divine in the dress. Everything you put together looked so retro-seamless!

Beautiful! I mean, being me, I’d still probably pick the brighter colored dress of yesterday, but you look great in these colors, too!
Pick this one! It channels the 40’s so perfectly and the colors of that dress are to die for. You could’ve stepped straight out of the 40’s in this. I LOVE it!
Oh wow. I loved the last look you had, but this one nails it, I think. The hat is so incredibly divine. I want to go to that store so very much.
I wouldn’t worry about pores; we always focus on certain things when we look at ourselves, and other people usually don’t see it at all or see things very differently. Your skin looks flawless to me, and your makeup job looks fantastic.
As for the swearing, maybe you can be a 1940s Eliza Doolittle. 😀
OMG. obsessed with this look on you! you pull this off effortlessly. that dress fits your body like a glove and those colors are so YOUR COLORS!

You look beautiful and your skin looks in fabulous shape to me. I love both looks on you but yesterday’s brighter colours swung it for me. x
Oh wow–hard choice as I love both looks!! But I must say this autumnal pallette looks amazing with your hair and coloring!!
GAK! I’m glad we don’t have to decide! You look so very pretty in both looks, close ups included! Talk about Pandora’s Box…Cabaret Vintage sounds well worth a plane ticket to TO. You know, I’ve only ever been in the airport, enroute to Ottawa or Montreal…never actually to the big city. One day!
Suzanne, you’ve really nailed both looks! But! My heart belongs to yesterday’s ensemble. {Happy sigh} I just love that pink/red dress!
I like this look, the other dress looks too much like a house dress you would bake a pie with, no offense Suzanne, you want our opinion!
I think you are not exposing yourself too much, nice to see your natural face, which is lovely btw, nothing to hide and no need to step back, the perfect face does not exist, the perfect faces are photoshop faces, right?

New to your blog, I just found you via Chatter Blossom. I have to vote though. because this dress is so adorable. Those Autumn shades look beautiful on you.
well now i’m stuck. i love them both and still love the lipstick. 🙂
Arghh, it’s so hard to choose between two glorious looks. If I must, I’ll choose outfit #1, of the brighter color. But I adore this hat! No bad choices, to be sure. xox
The fall colors of this one are beautiful on us…I mean you…ha! I still prefer yesterday’s more to this one.

Tough choice- both are perfect for you. I personally like the vibrant colors of the first look. I would say wear the one that’s going to be most comfortable dancing.
BTW – I do not see any large pores – you are gorgeous!!

This look is very pretty as well. And again with those gorgeous curls and red lips. I tend to have a slight preference for the other look, since those are more bright and happy colors.
My goodness, do you look magnificent! I adore the elegant, classic lines and perpetually beautiful autumn colour palette at work here. From the glint of gold on your handbag to the stunning dark brown hue of your hat, this outfit is fall time vintage fashion at its finest.

*PS* Thank you very much for your wonderfully nice blog comment this morning. It is flat out fantastic to met you, my fellow vintage loving Canuck.
Oh, I love this one! The colors and style suit you better than the first dress. But I see you’re already onto number 3, so I’d better go see what that is one like.
ha ha! I’m going to use that : ) Eliza Doolittle…
Well Sue if you should ever happen out this way again we need to get together! I would be more than happy to show you around to the best vintage and thrift the GTA has to offer. Don’t bother coming in the winter though…compared to BC you will freeze your buns off.
LOL I know what you mean about the first dress…although it is plainly clear that you have never seen me bake. I do not look remotely like that. LOL
Thanks for stopping by and voting : )
Grand to meet you too Jessica : )
I am surprised to see you wearing a vintage style! And let me say that you are really wonderful!!
