I got nothing.
Yes, army green is great, yes it acts like a neutral, yes anyone can wear it, blah blah blah.
The fact of the matter is when I put this outfit together I really liked it. It made me feel good about myself.
After the terrorist attacks fashion seems so superficial, so irrelevant.
This proverb resonated with me so I thought I’d share it.
An aging master grew tired of his apprentice’s complaints. One morning, he sent him to get some salt. When the apprentice returned, the master told him to mix a handful of salt in a glass of water and then drink it. “How does it taste?” the master asked.
“Bitter,” said the apprentice.
The master chuckled and then asked the young man to take the same handful of salt and put it in the lake.
The two walked in silence to the nearby lake and once the apprentice swirled his handful of salt in the water, the old man said, “Now drink from the lake.”
As the water dripped down the young man’s chin, the master asked, “How does it taste?”
“Fresh,” remarked the apprentice.
“Do you taste the salt?” asked the master.
“No,” said the young man.
At this the master sat beside this serious young man, and explained softly,
“The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains exactly the same. However, the amount of bitterness we taste depends on the container we put the pain in. So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things. Stop being a glass. Become a lake.”

What a wonderful anecdote to illustrate an important point. Also- I wouldn’t have thought olive on olive works, but it does !

That proverb is wonderful, the most sensible thing I’ve read all day.
I loved khaki when i was blonde but never consider it now. It does look good on you, the beret and fringed bag are fabulous accessories. xxx

I hear you about feeling a bit silly talking about fashion in light of what’s happening. With that said, we must not theres senseless act of violence stop us from doing what we love then they would have won.
I do love this outfit on you and think I need to add a beret to my closet.

I love this outfit; you look like a woman with a sense of purpose. And I love the walking shot. It’s something I have not mastered at all.
I shall never forget that proverb. It is a comfort and escape.

Dear Suzanne, I liked your outfit, color and style, yes, but as you said, fashion now seems strange. I wrote about it as well, and some people are kind of “crucifying” me for being sensitive. I won’t judge them, who am I to do this (besides, this is not my style), but I always say “we can’t please everybody”. So if they want to keep on talking about shoes or brunches, fair enough. I just want to express my feelings as well. As a coincidence, I read this “tale” last week and was prepared to publish it as well, and I really really loved it. You are really amazing!

Well, you could argue that blogging about clothes is superficial or silly whenever there are terrible acts of violence and atrocities happening in the world – which is pretty much every day of every year. We can all choose how much we want to say about world events on our blogs (or other social media), or how little. And we still have to get dressed, however appalled we are at what has happened.
Khaki is not a colour I ever wear, I don’t do camouflage print either, but both suit you beautifully, you look great. xxx

Changing perspective is everything! Important for peace of mind. Love your look, the mix of olive and navy, the punch of fringe, and inclusion of every top trend, way to go! I have a feeling that was not your overt intention, but there it is. You look so pretty, too.

I was unable to think about anything else after Friday’s attack until yesterday. I’m ready now to return to fashion. This look is attractive on you. As is often the case, I couldn’t pull it off but you can. You possess an innate charisma that expands your range of available fashion. Lucky girl…

As a French citizen, it has warmed my heart to see the outpouring of support and solidarity from countries around the world. I have been so touched by the emails I have received from blogging buddies wanting to know if I’m okay, even though I do not live in Paris. I have had La Marseillaise running over and over in my head these last few days almost like a chant. I understand how you feel, paper crafting seems rather unimportant to me in this moment. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with allowing this type of incident to put our priorities in perspective. Indeed, there would be something wrong if it didn’t. This is a tragedy. It is horrible, but we will go on, as we must. Vive la France!!! Nous ne sommes pas battus.
Your proverb is a very good one, and very true.

That’s a great neutral. It’s terrific looking with your coloring. The whole outfit works!! Terrible news about Paris. I’m speechless.

The mix in patterns with the stripes and camo is very cool. Definitely haven’t seen that before and it totally works! Awesome fringe bag, too!

Well, yes, you could certainly argue that all of our blogs featuring what we wear are shallow and trivial, but as Curtise stated, we all have to get dressed in the morning, so why not use getting dressed as a form of creative expression, and creativity and joy are good things to hang onto in these dark times.
I have always liked army green, and the colour does look so good with your hair. I enjoyed the parable – thanks for sharing that.

Similar to your story: not the event itself is important but the way you handle it.
I like your look and prefer it without the waistcoat (probably because I have something against such waistcoats.. too military for me.) But again, the dress with the scarf and long sleeved shirt is very nice. New fringe bag too? Did I miss it?

This is the perfect way to Fall-ize a Dress. I love your dress, scarf, vest and that fantastic fringe bag. On my current post I also wore a Shirtdress for Fall layered with a Scarf. Come take a peek. =)
Enjoy the weekend! <3 Ada.
