This was the first time I'd left the house in 3 weeks. It felt good to get out of my PJs and look normal again.
My girlfriend and I wound up going to two consignment stores and Hazel bought this Burberry trench coat for $200…regular $1700! I know it's not the $5 deals or .50 deals that everyone is always bragging about but for such a classic timeless piece I still think it is a brilliant deal. I would have scooped it up if it were my size.
That is the fun thing about consignment/thrift store shopping. You never know what you're going to stumble upon.
I scored an A-line black cocktail dress that looks like it is from the 1960's. Very cool. I can't wait to wear it.
We will be going back to that consignment store again for sure.
Shoes – Miss Mooz, Dress – Anthropologie, Sweater – Betsy Johnson
I also picked up a well worn leather belt and a Fossil cross body bag for $0.
Best deal ever right?
Okay, full disclosure, I had a store credit from them selling my stuff ; )
What is the best item you've ever purchased at a thrift or consignment store?
I don't think I can top Hazel's piece.
It’s not fashionable or anything, but I got a pair of sturdy, well-built and very warm snow boots that I’ve been wearing for sledding and hiking and snow shoveling every winter for 5 years….for 50 cents. I think those things are indestructible.
It’s great to see you out and about and your shoes are gorgeous!!!
Love this styling outfit, you look fab!
blue hue wonderland
Love the outfit–you look rather Faye Dunaway in Bonnie & Clyde!!
Best buy?? A Lord & Taylor RED wool/cashmere car coat for $4!! Similar ones retailed for $500!!
My best score ever? it was not in consignement store, but in a thrift store –
Gucci boots for $9!
You look good, happy you felt well enough to get out

What??? Okay next time I’m back in Montreal I’m going thrifting with you!
Wow. Lucky day.
Thanks Ann : )
.50??? It’s basically free.
Nice to see you out and about! I got a Calvin Klein trench similar to Hazel’s. It has a button in lining, and I paid around $30.00 for it. The funny thing is that I seldom wear it. Huh? My favourite find was a Tod’s handbag for around $20.00. I still have it. It’s not leather, and the strap and the top edge are starting to peel, 🙁 but I can’t seem to part with it.
loving the print on your skirt!

great to see you out shopping – what’s healthier than that?? : > you look fab in your print skirt and knit hat. Hooray for Hazel! I might have an equally good score: a new-with-tags Versace (the real high-end Versace) black suit for $100. I was too scared to wear it for one full year!
Ah! YAY for feeling up to getting out of the house!
I love the subtle things in this, such as how your shoes match so perfectly (who doesn’t love a show with some blue in it?)
Also, I agree about how cool that find it. Even if an item is second hand, if it is really top quality or truly unique, I think it is worth pay a bit more for. It is still usually a deal too, as was the case with the trench coat!
Suzanne, that outfit is fabulous!! Glad you were able to get out and about.

So glad that you are able to get out and shop – which means you are feeling better! I don’t do much consignment shopping because it takes a lot of patience which I am not very good at. What a score for your friend. I would love to own a Burberry Trench – so classic but it’s way over my means and it just does not get that cold here in Southern California.
Love this dress paired with your shoes!

I’m glad you returned to normal life! And so fabulously!
You look marvellous in the floral dress, it is a great finding. I love the shoes you are wearing too, comfy but stylish.
Take good care of you dear!

Love the belted cardigan over the dress…and look at you rockin’ that beret! Maybe I’ll have to try one…
We have super crafty thrift stores around here, so unfortunately I have no great finds to share. 🙁

Tks for linking up!
Have a great weekend!
And yes next time you are in MTL we will go thrift shopping!

hi, just meeting you via Style Sud-est’s hop. I just joined it late on a Saturday night. hahahha
My bomber jacket and my Jessica Simpson heels is my best steal-of-a-deal (either were org prices near $100). See it Monday on my post and yesterday on the list of new thrifty finds.
I LOVE YOUR SHOES!!!!
You look awesome Suzanne! Adorable outfit! My favorite way to buy garments is by picking up the high quality goods at a steal (second hand). They last so much longer, keep their value and it is the truly the healthiest for the environment. I am lazy though and target shop online most of the time. I haven’t found anything fantastic (yet) at consignment shops. xo
Okay…living in BC and you’re not wearing your trench…what gives?
It’s a full dress but I prefer it broken up with the sweater. Otherwise the print can be a bit overwhelming.
Yeah…shopping or working out? LOL
Okay I so want to see that Versace suit! Have you worn it on your blog? I bet it looks spectacular!
Thanks Lynn : )
I agree that consignment store shopping takes more time but it is also a great way to ease up on the purchases, something I’m really trying hard to do. Also I just feel better about purchasing used. This over consumption is too much.
These shoes are so comfy!
Well I have to admit I do love a good beret. I’ve been on the hunt for one Raspberry beret for ages now in my ode to Prince.
I think you would look smashing in one.
Yay!
Great to hear from you again Renae. I should have known you’d have some great finds.
I think you must be the Queen of Ebay. Seriously the stuff you manage to find on there amazes me.
I could agree more that I feel better when I buy second hand. Although I still find myself getting lured into Anthropologie every once in a while I’ve cut out almost all other retail stores.
Suzanne, I commented and it disappeared! I love you in this outfit and am so glad to see you styling again! xoxoxox
Sometimes it will put your comment in the spam box…but no worries…I always check it to make sure and I found your original comment there : )
Normal? Your ‘normal’ is FABULOUS!! What a gorgeous outfit!!
I love thrift shopping, too. Bought a few nice things lately and one of the best deals I had was finding a brand new Le Chateau skirt (with tags attached, $69.) for $12.
Thrifting is fun!
