This is a little project I've wanted to work on for ages…my husband's home office.
I only wish I'd taken photos of the actual room as it was set up before…sadly I only have photos when we had already cleared the furniture and were getting ready to rip up the carpet. You get an idea though. It was a mish mash of crap basically. Oh…and a bunch of law degrees in frames that my husband would like to point out are totally NOT crap and very expensive to boot. However…they did not make the cut in the new room.
And now drum roll please….
tah daaaaah!
The piece that got the ball rolling was the vintage teak hutch below that we picked up at an estate sale early in the summer.
The clocks inside the display case came from Holland…one was a gift from Greetje and Ron.
The metal plane is vintage.
The Barbados Trinidad poster is an authentic one from the 1950's for Trans Canada Airlines, scored at another estate sale.
We also have 2 vintage ads from the 1950's on the wall. Very Mad Men I thought. The tag line on one for Old Forester bourbon is, "It's cocktail time somewhere".
Perfect for my husband.
The vintage gumball machine was hard to find. We drove all the way out to a small town to an antique shop only to find out they'd sold the one they had.
WHAT???
I was mighty upset. Seriously…who else is going around buying vintage gumball machines I'd like to know?
We went to two other antique malls and then I found this one! Oh yeah baby! I was so pleased. It really wasn't going to be the same office without it. It now houses M&M peanuts and M&M dark chocolate.
I had hoped to find a 1950's desk however that hasn't happened yet. This Ikea desk has been with us for about 16 years now and works fine. I don't mind the design because it is quite architectural.
Since Robert travels so often for work the overall theme of worldwide travel was perfect.
The map is a sticker but we haven't stuck it to the wall yet.
Do you like the different time zone clocks? Those are a few of places he is often doing business with.
Just in case I ever need to know what time it is right now in Bangkok I can run into his office and check.
So useful!
; )
He actually does use them…so I love that.
The typewriter is something I've been looking for a while now. I wanted it in this teal colour or orange. Although it's in my husband's office I know I will be using it for a few little projects or cards. I just need to search for some new ribbons for it.
The globe below lights up, but it has to be darker in the room to see it.
Some additions that I'd like to make to the room…replace the dark brown leather chair in the corner with this one…
