Skinny Jeans Forever
They say that skinny jeans are over but I’m still holding onto mine.
Especially the ones that are almost as comfy as yoga pants.
When you find something that works for you and your body type hold onto it for dear life.
Never mind what the current trends are.
Trends come and go faster than you can bat your eyelashes lately.
Don’t rely on them to dictate you style choices.
Work with whatever makes you feel good about yourself and your body.
I’ve owned this pair for well over ten years, probably more and I’m getting worried they are beginning to wear out.
Shopping for jeans is almost as bad as shopping for a bathing suit.
They are best bought the day after a two week cleanse where all you ate was puffed air cakes and water with just enough cayenne to make you cry. Not that you needed the cayenne to make you cry…you’d been doing that since day one of the cleanse. Yes, that is the perfect time to go jean or bathing suit shopping as you’ll be too weak to run out of the fitting rooms screaming in horror and denial. Plus that soft Buddha belly may have shrunken to a cute Pillsbury Doughboy pillow size thanks to all the air you’ve been gorging on. Who doesn’t like a soft little dough pillow? It makes me hungry just thinking about it.
How often do I cleanse?
Never.
Unless eating bananas slathered with peanut butter counts as a cleanse. Then I do it at least a couple times a week. Followed by a couple of squares of 70% dark chocolate for good measure.
Thus why I haven’t bought replacement jeans in over ten years.
This is the side of my office you rarely see.
I’m normally taking photos in the corner or on the other side of the room where my vintage couch is situated.
I love my office. It was loads of work when I chose to redecorate on my own and I’ve never regretted it for a second.
My office is one of the two rooms in our house that has natural light.
In my next house I plan on having floor to ceiling windows facing south with a view of the ocean and mountains in the background. {sigh}
That and puffed air cakes that taste like chocolate brownies dipped in ripple potato chips.
Mmm… ripple potato chips.
For now I make due with permanent blooming florals on my walls and rice cakes that taste like…well…rice cakes, a combination of styrofoam with a tiny bit of salt added for flavour. Yum!
Are you holding onto your skinny jeans? Have you ever done a cleanse?
Linking up with Patti for Visible Monday.

Cannot give up my skinny jeans ….. love them in black, white and light and dark denim!
I believe they are considered a classic style?!?

I completely agree, love my skinny jeans and no marketing campaign will make me toss them.
You made this point beautifully, love the rich patterned top green pea coat, and fabulous booties. Oh,
If only my office looked like that !
I am more of a Pringles girl myself, and anything s’more…
❤️❤️❤️

Love that top you are wearing as the colours as just so you! Your office is so you also. I have never done a cleanse mainly because I think the concept is bunk. Eating real food the majority of the time is a good idea. That’s it. Nice and simple.
I never did wear skinny jeans. It just isn’t a look that feels like me. I do wear boot cut and I am not sure if those are ‘in’ and I wear straight leg and don’t know about that either. I think jeans are or should be like hemlines are these days. We should wear what suits us and what we like and it should all be available.

You look so good in your skinnies especially with that gorgeous coat and sassy boots.
I haven’t worn jeans in years – although I lived in them during the early noughties (a weekend escape from an enforced corporate dress code). I probably wouldn’t say no to a pair of high waisted original ’70s denim bellbottoms, if they ever came along in my size – although I’d probably have to sell a kidney to afford them!
The only cleanse I do is on my face. xxx

I have hope that skinny jeans will never really leave. Because how else can we wear our taller boots?? Tucking in straight leg jeans was a nightmare…..

I’ve never owned a pair of skinnies, as I think I look awful in them. Think “sausage”, and you’ve got the idea. I don’t often wear jeans (bootcuts), in fact I only wear them for serious hiking, when skirts aren’t an option. So every time we go on a hiking holiday, it’s with some trepidation that I try them on as they have a tendency of shrinking! It’s either that or too many chocolate brownies or ripple potato chips (oh, how I love those!). Anyway, your green coat is a stunner. Want! xxx

I’ve never done a cleanse (unless the purge you do before getting a colonoscopy counts). I have one pair of black “skinny jeans” and a sort of skinny pair of blue ones. Unfortunately, when you have a thick middle, and no hips or butt to speak of, they are not terribly flattering, which is why I prefer a wide leg (the wider the better actually).

Hi Suzanne
I just bought 2 pairs of skinny jeans and they are so soft! I’m loving them. I wear straight, flare, bf… whatever I feel like at the moment. You had me laughing about rice cakes…how bout them with peanut butter and banana on top? 😁 I’ve never done a cleanse…
You look great in your jeans and I love the colors in your top 💕

Since jeans in general are never going away I think it’s time for consumers to buy only the styles that look good on them. Clearly that’s much more likely if thrifting is a big part of your shopping behavior. There’s always ample space devoted to jeans in every thrift and consignment shop. All styles sell, which is testimony to all styles being desirable! Personally I like many styles and can wear most of them. Jeans are a great place for designers and retailers to bend to the will of the buyer! I Power to the people!!!
I’ve read a few articles written by nutrition experts that debunk the value of “cleansing”. Food is just too much fun!!
I love your pug portraits and office as garden of delights style. I also love your burnout, hombre, velvet top. The colors are SO DANG FLATTERING ON YOU!!

So if they are going out of style there will me more in the thrift shops. And we can be original again. Win, win!
Adooore that coat!!
Your office must have been tidied for that shot…hmmm? It is too magazine worthy.
But mostly I can’t take my eyes off the pugs. Did you do them? Wow!

I never have a cleanse, I love my skinny jeans and my favourite one is showing some wear as well. I do however have to go on a diet of water and bread as I gained weight just sitting on my bum all day long for a month (knee). Which means I cannot wear my skinnies boo hoo. They are stretchy but not that stretchy. Trousers with stretch and drawstrings is what I am wearing now…
Your office is divine. So clean too.

Clever move not to toss these. They look so good. My jeans often end up in the Donate pile, and somehow, mysteriously they end up back in my closet. Just in case! I like jeans. All styles. But I like chips more!!! Chips! Chips!!! And bread. With melting butter. I better calm down now. My jeans are all sizes and fits so I’m pretty much covered. Your artworks is so awesome!

I agree with you – when we find something that we feel is good for our bodies, we should stick to it 🙂 For me, midi length 🙂 But I love skinny jeans! I also agree that buying jeans and bathing suits is difficult. I loved your outfit, what for a beautiful top, as well as nice jeans and boots! Well done about the office – it looks exquisite! Hope you have a great weekend! Hugs!

Oh, I love that speckled green coat so much. Wow! <3 You know, I used to hate skinny jeans, because they would never fit me properly. I'd love the feel of them, but yeah. I used to write them off as something for "skinny people" to wear. It wasn't until I realized that I just need to wear high rise and (I know some people are loathing the return of) high waist jeans, that I started to feel like it was a style that I could really pull off. No gaps. No worrying about showing my underwear when I sit down. Heh. There's really no substitute for a nice fitting pair of anything, but jeans, especially. So, yeah, I'm on the skinny jeans band wagon for sure and it does wonders for all body types. Tailoring is everything. 😛
