Will this make me memorable is often a question I ask myself when choosing clothing. To me, the most important thing about how I dress myself other than the obvious, that it flatters my body shape, is that I present myself as a creative unique individual. I want to make sure that I am memorable and don't blend into the crowd. That is not to say I'm going to dress like a clown, because that sure would stick with people, but I do want to look like an artist. I guess you could say I'm dressing my part.
I've been thinking lots about what my style says about me. After seeing this clip by Garance Dore about Costanza and her views on beauty and aging it made me think even more about how people form impressions about us based on our appearance. Be it right or wrong, it happens all the time.
When I get compliments on my outfit I'm delighted and somewhat relieved that people have taken the time to notice the work that I have put into creating my style. It is something I enjoy but also something I work hard to accomplish and it is nice to know that it doesn't go unnoticed. Inwardly I breath a sigh of relief knowing that I'm doing something right.
What do you think your clothes are saying about you? Do you think you leave an impression on people? Or is that even important to you?
