I’ve become obsessed with velvet lately. Velvet jackets to be specific.
I’ve owned this black velvet jacket from Anthropologie for ages.
A red one I scored from Altuzarra when Target was still in Canada.
I found this orange one at TJ Maxx.
A recent Façonnable thrift find in blue.
Another orange thrift discovery that I haven’t featured yet but which I adore.
This green one that I featured here and haven’t shown on the blog yet, but here is a peek…
I almost forgot about this vintage velvet coat bought at an estate sale…
And finally because I’m obviously totally insane, this recent consignment find by Johnny Was
I love that clothing line but could never afford it. Thanks to consignment shopping and an extra 40% off for Black Friday this lovely is now part of my collection.
Collecting velvet jackets is a totally normal hobby.
Just like collecting toenail clippings of famous people. Only cleaner, softer and much more practical.
See? I can justify anything.
I will admit that part of the reason I bought this velvet jacket was because it reminded me of what this guy wears…
I know Hugh Hefner isn’t exactly a style icon, but who else do you know that can look this good while walking around in PJs all day?
Not this lady…
Although those 70’s totally-on-trend-boots and the oversized cat accessory are an edgy and adventurous choice when juxtaposed with the whimsical pastel unicorns, rainbows and Care Bear patterned PJs . That massive box of Cheetos as a handbag is blowing my mind. Extra points for her boots matching her cat accessory. Bravo!
You’ll be seeing this whole look on the Karl Largerfeld Winter 2017 collection.
In fact he is wearing it around town already. Of course he has the understated ponytail in place of the hair clip and some studded leather driving gloves. It doesn’t feel right without the super-sized box of Cheetos though.
Have you ever gone out of the house wearing your velvet jacket PJs?
A special shout-out to the wonderful Ally for choosing me for her annual bloggy award. Thanks a bunch lady! I’ll be sending you a wonderful Cheetos handbag in the mail.
A brief addendum to this post…I thrifted a floor length double breasted vintage bold blue velvet coat yesterday! I tried it on while wearing this dress and I felt like a movie star! My collection is growing.
