We took our first weekend Tango workshop this past weekend.
This is what I wore the first day.
I slipped out of those blocky bold “cut-my-legs-off-above-the-ankle-and-make-myself-visually-shorter-by-3-inches” sandals and wore my dance shoes at class.
These sandals might better with a shorts, so I don’t look like I have Hobbit legs. They were comfortable for all the walking we did around the city after the class. Also I like the contemporary styling.
So NOT me.

I kind of look like I’m wearing shackles.
Shackles = Style
You heard it here first baby.
The classes were brilliant. Really an entirely different style of Tango from what we’ve learned in the past. Which can be a bit confusing, but overall we both really enjoyed it and have in fact signed up again for another 2 workshops.
Jacket & Sandals – Marshalls, Kate Uger Dress – Old I think TJ Maxx? Clutch – Danier
This is the style of Tango we learned before…
And this is the style we are learning now and the instructors that taught us… they are from Montreal and came for the Tango Festival weekend in Toronto to teach the beginner workshops. They were brilliant.
HUGE difference.
Believe me…we don’t look remotely like those guys ; ) Well I know Robert would argue that fact, but we don’t.
I want to get good enough so we can do this the next time we are in Paris…
evening dancing by the Seine.
Swoon!
This has definately been added to my mental bucket list.
See that gal on the right? That looks like she is falling on the guy with her arms wrapped around his neck like she just heard the worst news of her life and is crying on his shoulder?
Yeah…she’s not crying or falling and she isn’t a stunt woman either. That is a closed hold for dancing. Leaning in on an angle looking like you are holding on for dear life but in fact you are holding yourself up with your core muscles.
Yikes.
I think I need to borrow some core muscles from someone.
And here is my great free style move…I hate to brag…
but seriously…
just…
like…
wow…
I call it “Hidden Dragon Irish Jig”
Go ahead.
You can clap.
I know I got me some sirius dance skillz.
You will soon be seeing me on So You Think You Can Dance…at the front of Mary’s Hot Tamale Crazy Train.
Have you added anything to your bucket list lately?
