Top 5 Thrift And Consignment Shops In The Village NYC

On my recent trip to NYC Sylvia and I discovered some really wonderful consignment and thrift shops most of them within walking distance of each other in The Village. Here are some that I thought were worthwhile.

Least Expensive Store

Goodwill Industries 103 West 25th Street (near West Village)

This store was very large and had a massive inventory. Like most really big thrift stores it wasn’t easy to look through the racks (items were jammed together) but they did have some great pieces and quite a few high end brands. I was especially impressed with their high end selection of shoes and boots which included Chie Mihara, Camper and Jimmy Choo all around $25 or below.

I bought this silk blouse by Nanette Leporé

and this knit dress that turned out to be a bathing suit cover-up.

Sadly all the shoes didn’t fit.

Be prepared for only two fitting rooms, a clothing limit of only five items, and a wait to use the fitting rooms.

Best High End Stores

Cadillac Castle 333 E 9th St

I loved this little store. It was well merchandised and organized with decent fitting rooms and pristine pieces by brands such as Channel, Alexander McQueen and Theory. I thought the prices were very reasonable. I *almost* bought this Burberry coat that I loved…but it turned out to be just a tad too tight. (sad face)

Tokio7 83 E. 7th St.

This store had 50/50 ratio for men’s and women’s inventory. Lots of very high end brands at decent prices. I tried on a few items but none fit me. They had big selection of avant guard and high end Asian brands.

Funkiest Store

Buffalo Exchange 332 E. 11th St

If you are looking for lower end brands of current trends this is your shop. Lots of younger people were buying up a storm here. Loads of inventory and sky high wild boots. I took a photo of these for Melanie…can’t you just see her stomping all over Vancouver in these tree stumps?

Monk Thrift Shop 175 MacDougal St.

Although I didn’t visit this shop my friend Patti is a big time thrifter and spends quite a bit of time visiting NY and the secondhand shops in the village and this was her first recommendation.
