I prefer the term vertically challenged over short…but Google prefers the term short. Google isn’t very politically correct.
Jumpsuits are a petite gals friend. They elongate the body because there are no visual breaks cutting the body into pieces. You appear as one long lean line.
I’ve worn them since the early 80’s. In fact I wore a white version to my 16th birthday that I remember very well. It was strapless and had fabric ties at the ankles. It was voluminous, as that was the style in the 80’s and cost a fraction of the one below. I wore it with red mid-heel open toe sandals and a red clutch.
This is my updated version of how I could wear it now that I’m (cough, cough) 32 (almost 33) years older.
You’ll notice it isn’t strapless. I stopped wearing those in my late twenties.
This might be classier with just a simple necklace like this. Or even no necklace, like I wore when I was sixteen.
My 16th birthday is one of my favourite memories. As a huge surprise my Dad rented a vintage Bentley with an authentic chauffeur (wearing a proper hat & uniform ) and we all went to a high end restaurant. The Bentley was so large it easily fit six people. At the restaurant I was allowed to order a drink on my own and enjoyed my very first champagne cocktail.
How I wish I had photos of that day! I think my X might have taken some photos, and sadly I don’t have them. Unlike today, people rarely had cameras with them, no one had cell phones and there was no such thing as a selfie. Yes…it was way back in the dark ages! I don’t know how we managed… just living for the moment, enjoying each other’s company instead of taking endless photos and posting them all over social media to a bunch of people we don’t even know.
Do you have a favourite birthday memory?
