My husband and I often play this game.
20 years younger or 20 million dollars?
We argue about the pros and cons of each option.
Of course if you're super rich you have the option of looking much younger via surgery and every other kind of procedure out there.
But that involves loads of risk that I'm no longer willing to wager.
You never know what you'll look like in the end. There are loads of bad examples of face-lifts walking around.
Imagine, you spend all that money and are left with something much worse than what you started with.
There was a time when I had a whole list of the surgeries I thought I'd be ready to go under the knife for, but they never happened. They were never a priority and I was always too scared.
I got my tonsils out when I was five and then had the horrendous botched surgery last year that has cured me of ever wanting elective or any other kind of surgery again.
If I had the chance to be physically 20 years younger though…
Yeah.
I'd do it.
In a heartbeat.
You just wake up one day and you are 20 years younger.
You wouldn't be reliving your old life…you'd just be 20 years younger now.
You'd have an extra 20 years to make more money.
Your past would still be your past, you'd just have more future.
My body would no longer argue and complain when I asked it to do something.
Dr.'s appointments would only happen once every two years (if that) and there would be no thought of illness.
And yes I know I'm not 100 years old and I still have plenty of good years ahead of me (well who really knows?) but the whole physical aging process is something I could really do without.
That said, the alternative to aging isn't so hot.
But this is just a game.
What would you pick?
Money or youth?
All you youngin's out there don't bother ; )
As they say…youth is wasted on the young.

I am quite satisfied with my age and life, but if I had to choose… well I think I would like to be very rich! ( but I don’t think I would do any surgery !After all, every wrinkle I have has a story to tell!!)

Well, at this point twenty years younger would see me back in public schools so, I guess I’d go for riches. Being able to travel the world would be nice, though practically speaking the money would probably be invested into long term things like retirement fund and home things.
The print of the pants goes well with the scarf. They are two things I wouldn’t have thought about going or not going together but they make the mood of the outfit!

I’d hate to have to relive the death, corporate hell, pain and surgery I’ve endured over the last twenty years so I’d take the money and donate it to Cancer research, Arthritis research and Alzheimers charities so no-one else has to go through some of the crap I’ve had to! I can live with wrinkles and without designer gear but wouldn’t mind some travel money!
On a lighter point love today’s outfit, those boots kick ass and the jeans and waistcoat combo are pure rock chick! xxx

money for sure. my 20-year old self was a real jerk.
nancy @ adore to adorn says
As you stated, there are certainly pros/cons to each thought. Being young is fun and carefree. I like that I had so much more hope and energy to try things. But, having financial security is important to me. I don’t need to roll in it per se but I do know that it would resolve a lot of concerns and worry in my day. It sure would be nice to not be overly concerned in that department. =) I think after all that, I would choose the money. It could go so much further in terms of helping myself and helping others. Too optimistic perhaps?

I should have worded this better. You are in your same life, you just wake up one day 20 years younger. : )

At this point, I’d definitely have to go for the money! 🙂

Twenty million dollars. 20 years younger would bring me to 10 years old. I never want to go through puberty again!
Ashley says
Money. I’m more secure with myself now in my 40s than I did in my 20s. Yup. I’ll take the cash.
Kacie's Kloset says
That’s a tough question! Right now I’d probably take the money because if I were twenty years younger, I’d be 4. But who knows what my decision would be years from now. Ultimately, I just want to be happy and surrounded by the people I love 🙂

I would go for the money, 20 years younger would put me at 17…I hated being a teenager! I would not want to do it again!!! With the money I could pay off the debts of me and my entire family, buy a home, and travel with my family, making memories.
Happiness at Mid Life says
I am very happy with my 40+ year old self so I am going to say money. This way, I am 100% sure that my son’s financial future is secured and maybe the hubby & I can retire and go on nice vacations.
I like how you styled this vest, I always have such a hard time wearing my vest without looking too masculine. I like the addition of the scarf.

Well- at this point I’ve got no interest in being ten again so i’d go for the money- but I’ll revisit this in ten years- or maybe 15- 25 was pretty good…
Val @ Muse Fondue says
I’d take the money and run – away from work! No way would I want to work 20 more years. It might be different if I loved my job, or if I was physically infirm.
Cool jeans! Seems like the floral jeans trend is still going, and I can see why.
Shon says
Ha ha…here we go again, Would You Rather? LOL
First off, let’s discuss this killer look you have here! The hat, vest? I mean I need these right this instant to appear in my closet. You look so Boss right now!
I am not sure if I would want to be 22 again, only if I had the rule book I play by now! Ha ha…wisdom comes with experience. 20 million would be great as I would probably give most of it away.
Thanks for letting me play along. I might have to ask Hubby this later…
Happy Weekend!
Tamera the Menopausel Supermodel says
Well you look like a million!!!
totally would take the money and retire to just craft my days away…lol. @0 mil would buy a whole lotta craft supplies!!
sandra @ Peaches Mcginty says
Hmmmm, interesting question! I could be 24 again and pregnant or financially loaded, gah! the money would help sort out a lot of people though! haha, I suck at this game! you look flaming gorgeous in your outfit, I also read your posts on the botched surgery, oh my goodness, what a horrendous time, I send a big very late hug x x x
Curtise says
I don’t want another 20 years, thanks, so I’ll take the cash and have a wonderful holiday or several! Certainly wouldn’t spend it on surgery… The problem with waking up 20 years younger would be that everyone else, loved ones, friends, family, wouldn’t be any different, so your peers and partner would go ahead and die, how sad would that be?
Oh, I suppose I ought to put some money aside for the kids… College funds, that kind of thing.
Nah, holidays! xxxx
Curtise says
Sorry, I got carried away with the fantasy question, and forgot to say how fabulous you look! Love the jeans/hat/waistcoat look on you, super sexy! xxx
Forest City Fashionista says
I would definitely take the money – like Val commented, there’s no way I want to work for 20 more years. I would rather be able to have more adventures with whatever time I have left (and move to New York!).
That is such a cool outfit – love it from boots to hat!
No Fear of Fashion says
Neither. Money corrupts and both money and 20 years younger would alienate me from my loved ones, my friends, love and family. No thank you, not worth it. Good health …. yes any time.
Greetje
Patricia says
Money – I’ve been young already, but have never been rich. Would like to try it 😉
Anja says
First of all this is another cool look, Suzanne. Looks really good on you!
Then about The Choice:
I understand what you say: the same person, just in a 20 years younger body. Tempting. Sure! Unfortunately I was in about as bad health at age 20 as I am now, so there would be no gain in that perspective. Not more energy, not healthier. Too bad. So I would go for the money.
I do not believe that money necessarily corrupts nor that it would alienate me from my loved ones, as Greetje believes.
Half of it would go in a charity foundation that I would start myself, lending micro-credits. One quarter would be
micro-credits for needy friends and family. One quarter would be for myself.
Or something like that….;-)
Debbie Stinedurf says
First off, love the floral jeans with the vest. Totally cool look. Second, hmmm…money or youth? I’m thinking 20 years younger if my husband could be 20 years younger too. It wouldn’t be any fun without him!
