My fireplace mantel sits in the heart of our house and I love decorating it for the holidays. I wanted to keep our Christmas mantel decorations bold and simple because our mantel is quite small. The thing I like best about decorating my mantel is that it can be completed in less than an hour.
Speed decorating.
Gotta love that.
Otherwise…who has time?
The Christmas bulb garland I made in about 15 minutes by stringing a bunch of bulbs I bought last year on super sale onto ribbon. #DYIdone
Although the fireplace mantel is tiny, the tall mirror and bigger bolder decorations give it visual strength and it truly becomes the focal point of the room.
If you have subscribed to my blog via email you will get the fake glittered Joy and Ho Ho Ho graphics for free as well as a smaller version of the deer on a Christmas card. Otherwise, you can buy them through my Etsy store. Fake glitter is the way to go. Otherwise you’ll still be cleaning it up when Christmas 2015 rolls around.
The deer is available through my Society6 store in a variety of styles, as pillows, iPhone cases, totes, etc and then I’m offering 2 versions 8 x 10″ and 10.5 x 13.5″ through my Etsy store.
If you’ve subscribed to my blog newsletter you will be getting a version of this in a card for free. It is also available on Etsy.
Now all I need is a new set of lights to put around my window and the Christmas decoration are done!
What about you? What is your favourite spot to decorate for the holidays in your house?

oh dear heavens, I meant wreath, not wrath,
wrath would NOT be at all the spirit of the season!

LOL! Freudian slip ; P
I used to decorate for all the holidays, especially for Fall/Halloween and Christmas, but I found that I was decorating the last few years out of a feeling of “have to”, when I really didn’t “want to”. I dreaded the time it took me to take everything down and put it away. So…I’ve gone for decorating ‘light’. Basically, just a small tree this year and a wreath on the door, suits me fine.
Your mantle is simple and beautiful. I love an unfussy string of lights – it’s so holiday. xo
I love this! It looks amazing. The antelope head is my favorite.
Simple, graphic, and cool….love it!

I think I will copy your idea. We always have a Christmas tree up. Which usually takes up space, loses needles and is nice but also a nuisance. Last year we bought a false one. Or can I say a faux tree? Very handy. You can bend the branches to fit the ornaments. No needles anymore. Now that you have shown us your stylish mantel piece I tend to leave the tree all together. We have beautiful ornaments. Just don’t know where to hang them from if we don’t have a tree.

I’ve got a couple suggestions…what about an ornament garland? A garland can be hung anywhere. You can use ribbon or rustic cord. Don’t tie each on…just loop them through themselves onto the ribbon. That way they should stay in place.
Another idea I’ve seen is people hanging a large bare tree branch from string and then hanging the ornaments from that.
Or another idea would be simply to get a nice tray and set them out on the tray with some candles in-between.
Look at these…

one of them they just tacked all the ornaments on the wall.
And this : )

Spaces like this are the center of a house, regardless of their actual size. I cherish them. Whether over a fireplace or on an entertainment center, they reflect us and are prime real estate for decorating. Yours is very nice.
Great mantle decorations, I love that it’s a muted palette of colors yet it’s so festive. The garland is gorgeous – I ‘ve been wanting to do a Christmas Wreath with colored bulbs and always to buy them after Christmas when they are on super clearance. With a little one, out holiday decore is very kid friendly with lots of fun things for my son to touch & play. I love this sophisticated look!

I love the color in your mantle decor, and the christmas bulb garland is genius. So pretty!
I love your mantel! The woodland creatures! It is dreamy. And your deer is the most awesome. I love it so much. You are so talented. the most creative I was today was adding cinnamon to chili. And I didn’t even really like it. Tomorrow I hope to get more Christmas done. We got our trees tonight!

Oh Suzanne, that is one of the moist gorgeous mantels I have ever seen. I love pairing silver+gold together. Everything is beautiful and such nice decorations. I love the wreaths you created with the multi balls, also. I pinned everything. Your mantel is so cozy, elegant, chic and pretty!

I was just wishing to see more of your lovely home and you oblige with decoration to boot!
Great mantelpiece, dear. Very festive and pretty.
You know my mantelpiece; stuffed year round;-).
I would love that small drift-wood-ish xmas tree ornament that you have there in XL; the size of a real tree. I’m looking for a replacement for a real christmastree since some years now.
