Karina Dress Giveaway – I’m Back
I’m back from a brief hiatus due to health issues and a family visit.
I’m not gonna lie, the internet/instagram/facebook/twitter/blog break was actually quite wonderful. The getting sick part sucked, but hopefully now I’m on the mend…fingers crossed!
I need to get my bloggy mojo back now, so I’m starting out with this boho/polkadot/leopard mix. Nothing like trying to do all the trends at once.
Go big or go boring.

I was gifted this lovely polkadot Karina dress.
I’m happy to promote a North American company where all the dresses are made in Brooklyn, USA by seamstresses earning a living wage. It is so rare to find clothing companies based in North America that are able to survive in this economy of disposable fast fashion.
It is the second Karina dress I own. The first one I won.

I like the fact that this dress has pockets and is a bit shorter than the rust dress.

I’m not as keen on the fabric which is polyester. The last dress was a micro fibre and lycra and wonderfully soft.
The good thing about polyester is that you can roll it into a ball in your suitcase and it’ll come out looking perfect. Plus it can be tossed into the washing machine without issue.
If only they could make polyester breathable.
Someone invent that and then give me 50% of the millions you will earn from it.
Having the idea is important yo.

For me this dress was a bit too “Mom-on-the-go” for me, so I added a bunch of accessories and made it my own.
Most of the items in my closet are already statement pieces, so working with a dress that wasn’t was great fun to style.

I had my Irresistible Me hair extensions in for these photos. They work well with the boho vibe.

I was checking out their latest offerings for pre-Autumn and really think this chevron design is sweet.

12 Tips To Happiness
We watched a movie this weekend based on a book called, Hector And The Search For Happiness.
It was cheesy, and quite silly but there were some good bits of advice I thought I’d pass along.

12 Tips To Happiness

“We should concern ourselves not so much with the pursuit of happiness but rather with the happiness of pursuit.”
– Enjoy the journey!
Many people see happiness only in their future.
– Enjoy the moment!
Many people think that happiness comes from having more power or more money.
– Be grateful for what you have.
The more we focus on our own personal happiness, the more it eludes us.
– Kindness to others enriches your own happiness.
Happiness is answering your calling.
– Doing what you love will make you happy.
Happiness is being loved for who you are.
– Accepting yourself and being accepted by others is important.
“Avoiding unhappiness is not the road to happiness.”
– Avoiding pain and fear will not result in happiness.
“Making comparisons can spoil your happiness.”
– Comparison is truly the thief of joy.
“Sometimes happiness is not knowing the whole story.”
– Would you rather be wise and unhappy or ignorant and blissful?
“Listening is loving.”
– Listening with an open heart is often what people crave most.
“More important than what we are searching for is what we are avoiding.”
– Fear blocks happiness.
“Nostalgia is not what it used to be.”
– We always embellish our memories, both good and bad.
While watching the movie I quickly ascertained that one thing that makes me happy is a warm pug on my lap.

12 things that make me happy
A healthy body.
Fresh baked bread.
Sitting in front of the fireplace on a cold night.
Dancing.
Creating.
Checking items off my To Do List.
A summer’s day.
Animals.
Thunderstorms.

The smell of rain.
Chocolate anything.

What makes you happy?
