3 Reasons To Love An A-Line Skirt
Although I adore pencil skirts and full skirts one of my all time favourite skirts to wear is by far the A-line.

Skirt – Anthropologie (on sale), Vest – Guess (similar in white), Hat – Handmade (DIY your own) (similar), Shoes – Nine West (these are adorable and on sale!)
3 Reasons To Love An A-Line Skirt
Comfort
There is room to move, but unlike a maxi or full skirt no excess fabric to catch on things as I breeze by.

Flattering Fit
It accents my waist and skims out from my hips creating an unmistakably feminine silhouette.
Bathroom Easy
If ever you should need to go to the bathroom quickly…this is the skirt to be wearing. I know it seems like a silly detail, but sometimes I am grateful for the simplest things in life.
Here are some of my favourite A-line skirts

I am drooling over this A-line skirt!
A DIY version isn’t out of the question, since I don’t have an extra $1600 hanging around.
Are you a fan of a-line skirts?

Don’t Ever Leave Your House
If we simply never left our house I wouldn’t be tempted by stores that are having 50% off sales.
Simple.
My hand was forced people.
Forced I’m telling you!
We went out to see a movie (Terminator – husband’s choice – don’t see it! Really lame!) but stopped in Oakville for some people watching and some yummy pastries.
We were just walking down the street, minding our own business, no intention of shopping at all and then my husband spotted the 50% off signs and and asked me if I wanted to go in.
That is like asking a pug if they want a treat.
Oakville is a swanky neighbourhood on the lake and the shop was very upscale. The kind I avoid because their prices start around $250.
BUT…that damn 50% off lured me in.
When I spotted this gingham skirt on the racks it jumped into my hands.
This shop was so high end that all their sizes were Italian, who, if we go by their sizing, are about ten times smaller than all of us North Americans. I’m not a size 4 anymore, I’m a size 42!
I’m HUGE!!!
Vanity sizing works people.

I’ve been admiring gingham skirts ever since I saw this one…

Kristian has been flaunting her red gingham skirt non-stop making me all kinds of jealous.
They have that wonderful classic vintage vibe that I adore.
And yes, most of you know my vintage gingham dress that I so love, but the possibilities of a skirt are endless.

Right then and there I realized that there was a gaping hole in my wardrobe that needed to be filled with a gingham skirt.
I was defenceless against all the forces of the universe screaming I had to own this gingham skirt.
Do you think I’ve mentioned gingham skirt enough in this post?
Just Googling checking.

The skirt is made in Italy, 100% cotton but feels like linen. It is very well made, but isn’t perfection as it lacks pockets.
It makes me feel very 1950’s Italian.
When wearing it I spontaneously yell out, “Basta! Mangia! Ciao! Bella!”
And yeah…I yell because you can’t just “speak” Italian…you need to feel it emanate from your deep within your gut and let it explode out of your mouth with sentiment, enthusiasm and conviction! There is an urgency associated with it, like every time you speak you’re saving someone’s life. Every sentence requires an exclamation point! Or two!! or three!!!
That is what I learned about Italians and their language when I lived there. That and the fact that they eat pasta every day as a starter instead of a salad. I mean who can eat pasta as a starter and still fit into their freakin’ extra small clothes? Those magical Italian women have some fancy tricks, and they didn’t share them with me.
If you follow me on Instagram you will have also seen that I tried on a beautiful midi floral pencil skirt at the same shop.

It was stunning, but in the end the gingham won out.

I think I made the right choice.
Do you own any gingham? Which skirt would you have chosen? Do you speak Italian? Or just eat Italian? Do you know their secrets?
