This halter dress has been around the block. It was about 8-10 inches longer than what you see now. Last year I decided that 90% of all my dresses were way too long for me. I took quite a few to a tailor which was very expensive so some of them I decided to try to hem up on my own. Turns out that cutting a full skirt like this one requires some skill. Skill that I soon learned I did not have. I am an impatient person, so all that measuring and then ironing was too much for me. I just went straight ahead with the scissors. I discovered in my haste to "get it done" that I did not leave room for the raw edge to be folded. I was left with a skirt so short that it looked like it was made for ice skating. I had this lovely pink fabric with some green in it and decided I could try to salvage the dress by adding that to the bottom. I love it now. It breaks up the pattern and adds some punch to the lower half of the dress. Note to self: measure twice, cut once. Or better yet, pay for a professional.
