I am often always influenced by the fashion I see while watching TV. Lately, I’ve become emersed in Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. For those of you that haven’t watched this brilliant Australian series, I’d describe Miss Fisher as a female Jame Bond, only better, with a wardrobe to die for.

 

 

She lives the life all of us want, full of adventure, sex and intrigue all while looking like she stepped right off the pages of Vogue.  No worries about money, she is independently wealthy.

 

 

Miss Fisher isn’t twenty something, she is a mature independent woman living her life to the absolute fullest, not a care in the world about what society thinks. A feminist that enjoys and owns her sexuality while hunting down the bad guys dressed to the nines.

A female superhero strong, sexy and intelligent.

My obsession with the series includes the amazing set decor. The whole series is a feast for the eyes.

I’d been searching for a velvet fainting couch for my bedroom for years. I spotted a hand carved rosy peach masterpiece in an online estate sale.

The online bidding war was beyond intense.

I honestly thought my heart might jump right out of my chest and land on the keyboard. A bidding war is terribly exciting!  I prevailed and I think Miss Fisher would approve.

Dress, Decorate Miss Fisher Style

Soon a tapestry will cover that entire back wall (once it hurries up and gets here!) and I’m currently looking for a small area rug to complete the space, although once the tapestry goes up I may no longer require the rug.

The dress is currently for sale in my Etsy store. It is a beauty. It looks 1940’s but is actually 1980’s Joseph Ribkoff, a Canadian designer.  The material is a lovely crepe. I’m wearing my altered booties.  I added a bunch of rhinestones to the heels. I still need to make up a proper DIY so you can see just how smashing they turned out. They are what I call “memorable exit booties” as they leave the best impression when I’m walking away.

I also purchased this Phryne-esque dress and wore it out to tea last week.  It is Ralph Lauren 100% silk. I need to take better photos of it once I get my tapestry on the wall.
