One Dress Three New Looks

This is a continuation of my last post where I’m trying to decide if I should keep this full flare midi dress. Any retail purchases that come into my wardrobe which aren’t purchased secondhand need to prove themselves.  They require versatility and the ability to blend seamlessly with what is already in my wardrobe.

Here are some more creative ways of styling this gingham dress. Since this is actually look number four that is where I’m starting…

One Dress Three New Looks #4

It’s a simple look but I like it.

I’ve added a little scarf…PUG ALERT!

 

I avoided cutting my body in half with a belt. It creates a longer leaner silhouette when you don’t break the pattern. This dress comes with a fabric belt which is what I’ve used.

The shoes…{sigh}…the shoes. Aren’t they fabulous? I got them on super sale from Mod Cloth last year but was waiting for the right dress and right weather to bring them out.

I’m still waiting on the right weather to show up but at least I’ve found the right dress.

Shirt dresses are easy to layer up. I’ve added a funky thrifted purple shirt and my wide Obi belt.

 

This works as a transitional outfit when it is too cold to wear the short sleeve dress on its own.

I pinned this outfit with a dress styled over a skirt and loved it so I was excited to create my own version.

Did you notice how the rose directs the eyes to the waist to emphasize the red skirt?

 

This is one of those very rare outfits when I’m not wearing anything vintage or secondhand. I did make the fabric rose by hand and I also altered that red gingham skirt with some trim and iron on embroidered patches.

This is an outfit that would look better in motion.
