When I was a kid the only sequins I had were on my baton costume that my Mom had to sew on her own. I can still hear her yelling at the sewing machine.
In the last 2 years I’ve gotten all of my baton twirling mojo back and picked up from where I left off as an 8 year old, flaunting my sequins during the day.
This yellow top is made with matte sequins which makes it ideal for day wear if you don’t want to come across too trashy flashy.
Speaking of flashy…
and baton twirling…
Just checkin’ to see if you’re paying attention.
That is me up there wonding how I segwayed from Libarace to me in a pencil skirt.
That or there is a very large spider on the wall that I just noticed.
I know this daytime look might be a bit out there for some of you but for me I loved it.
I could have worn the top with jeans instead to dress it down more but I like the glamour of the maxi and it was great in the summer heat.

It’s a song Jonny Cash forgot to write.
So just to recap: My tips on how to wear sequins during the day
1. Treat them like any other textured piece of clothing.
2. Don’t be afraid to let your inner Elvis hang out.
3. You might not need as many accessories.
4. Your inner sparkle will become your outer sparkle and really, isn’t that what we all want?
