What does winter layering done right mean exactly?
It means that you don’t freeze your ass off, and you don’t pass out from overheating.
Let it be known that when I wear a bulky sweater like this I wear a tank top underneath or a t-shirt. That way, when my internal temperature goes from freezing to the burning flames of Hell within a space of two seconds I can strip down to my tee and breathe a sigh of relief that I won’t need to kill somebody.
Vest – Old Navy (sim but even cooler in camo on sale!), Sweater (sim) & Jeans (sim) – TJ Maxx, Boots – Boc
These boots are very old and a favourite of mine. They are by BOC and very comfortable and warm. They are so comfortable I can walk in them all day long. They aren’t fur lined, but they are fine for anything above -5 C. I’ve found some that look even nicer than mine by BOC with a lower heel here on sale. These are one of those rare purchases that have paid for themselves I’ve worn them so often.
That scarf is another one of those blanket scarves I picked up from TJ Maxx. It is one big rectangle and very bulky. One thing is for sure…my neck will not be catching any drafts and I won’t need to worry about whiplash should I be in a car accident. It is a bit like wearing a neck brace. (But oh so pretty! LOL)
I think I need this scarf to add to my collection of super fancy neck braces. Either that or just hang it on my wall as art.
I feel like I’m in disguise wearing this. Only a small part of my face is showing.
Do you love or hate layering? Normally layering for me means that I’m adding bulk onto my frame which I normally dislike as much as coriander. (Yes I HATE that stuff!) I am slowly beginning accept layering as a necessary evil of living in a cold climate.
So your thoughts on layering? The more the merrier? Or would you rather be on a beach right now wearing just a string bikini and a smile?
Trick question. ; )
Here are some other bloggers that know a thing or two about winter layering done right.
Even though Beverly just recently moved to a cold climate from California she has already perfected the science of layering for winter.
Anna is the layering super hero. She can do no wrong no matter how many layers she is wearing.
Kristian does it so well here with a menswear inspired look.
Lisa knows a thing or two about pattern mixing and layering.
Sylvia wearing layers under a dress…
Shawna is also a bit of a master when it comes to layering, layering a skirt with a dress, a cardigan and a little poncho.
Thanks to all my bloggy friends for constantly inspiring me and providing some extra eye candy.
