10 Ways To Style A Sequinned Vintage Jacket
There are loads of amazing vintage sequinned jackets out there just waiting to be worn again. The 80’s were full of them.
Erase your preconceived ideas about this type of jacket. It can easily be updated to fit in with a contemporary vibe.
I was so excited when I found this one, the sequins, design and colours were too good to pass up despite the waist erasing boxy cut. For a person with an hour glass figure this is the worst shape for my body type but I’m up for a challenge. I was sure I could make it work.
My original idea was to just let the jacket shine (literally) and then keep everything else low key.
My first try…
It didn’t turn out as cool as I’d hoped.
Probably because in my mind I’m about three inches taller, have much thinner legs and no hips.
Funny how my mind keeps reverting back to what I looked like when I was twelve.
Nevermind.
I got serious about it and tried again.
I told you I put my serious face on.
Here I am trying it with darker jeans and more attitude.
I’m telling myself,
“Put your game face on, “look tall” and suck it all in.”
If you know a trick how to suck in your thighs I’m all ears.
I prefer my sitting photos. Much more relaxed.
Still not 100% thrilled.
What about switching out the shoes to something extra elongating?
Yawn.
Boring!
My original efforts were lacklustre to say the least.
Let’s try again shall we?
10 Ways To Style A Sequinned Vintage Jacket
After recently writing about more is more with Gucci inspired style I was ready to try again.
This time I didn’t focus on the jacket but created entire outfits that challenged my imagination.
I mixed a variety of textures, patterns and colours.
Ideally I wanted to pair this with my gold pussy bow blouse but I spent 45 minutes looking for it today and came up empty.
Someone came into my house in the middle of the night when I was sleeping, went into my bedroom closet and stole it!
Either that or I’m losing my mind. Let’s go with the first idea. Totally plausible and has nothing whatsoever to do with my aging brain.
Which outfit was your favourite?
If you liked this vintage sequinned jacket I have another one listed currently in my Etsy store by Joseph Ribkoff. It would be loads of fun to style as well.
Linking up with the lovely Patti over at Visible Monday.
