Yep…what you never ever thought you'd see on a personal style blog.
A farmer shearing a sheep.
You are welcome.
First the farmer goes in and chooses "the lucky one".
They are all huddling at the back of the cage saying, "Pick her! Pick her! Not me!"
Poor gal is brusquely brought "on stage".
She is moved up onto her back/bum at which time I swear the farmer hypnotizes her.
Look they are having a serious private moment here.
The sheep becomes so relaxed she actually closes her eyes.
Now that she is relaxed it is time for a quick manicure.
Then the humiliation starts.
She actually remained very calm throughout the entire process.
And here she is naked at the end of her ordeal.
This is the pelt that comes off one sheep, it weighs 5-10 lbs. They produce one coat per year.
This is what gets stretched and twisted into what we know as wool. This was a demonstration on how the sheep farmers look after their sheep here in Ontario I saw while at the Rockton World's Fair. I cannot vouch for other countries.
So the next time you put on those wool socks, sweater or coat, remember to thank the sweet sheep that gave up her coat so you could stay warm.
