This Sunday hubby and I went out to the Vintage Clothing show. We've gone for a couple of years now and make a day out of it by stopping at Le Pain Perdu an authentic Parisienne cafe for lunch.
This vintage clothing show is upscale with lots of great stuff but it's super crowded and the items aren't cheap. Not flea market pricing that's for sure. I still managed to find a couple of items I simply could not walk away from.
These Ferragamo shoes were one of them…
The seller had around 15 pairs of very bright and unusual colored shoes from the 1960's all from the same "well-to-do" fashionable woman. Most of them were Ferragamos. When I slipped these on my feet it felt like I'd been wearing them all my life. The woman must have loved them because they are stretched out and well worn on the bottom. I'm sure they will become one of my favorite pairs since they are so unusual and comfortable.
The other item was this incredible clutch that is from early 80's by designer Susan Gail and made in Spain.
The gold handles are pulled out of side pockets so you can chose to have handles or not. I've just got one handle showing here.
It'll go with everything in my closet…a good sign that it was a smart buy.
It takes patience to shop vintage however the reward can be unique one-of-a-kind quality pieces that you will treasure for many years. I think that's what I scored on Sunday.
Do you shop vintage? If so, what is your favorite item you purchased and why?
