Over 20 Ways To Rock A Statement Belt
As a curvy hourglass figure I am a big fan of belts to help define my shape.
Over the years I have collected a few cherished statement belts that I wear time and time again to help finish off an outfit with a little bit of flare.
Here are some of my favourite statement belts…
I never thought I’d be able to wear this yellow ribbon and rhinestone belt as often as I have. Proof that if you buy what you love you’ll manage to make it work.
Anthropologie usually has a good selection of statement belts. That is where I bought the jewelled version above. Here is a similar one.
This little leopard belt is the perfect width and length and goes with everything. I bought it at a consignment store. Similar here.
This elastic rhinestone belt above was also bought at Anthropologie. Similar here.
A fantastic turquoise and silver cowboy belt was found thrifting. It looks very Ralph Lauren. Similar here.
My handmade floral belt. DIY here.
Isn’t this massive leather statement belt above insane? I bought it as a consignment store.
Here it is again combined with a blouse and skirt currently for sale in my Etsy store. No, I’m not selling the belt. That is a one-of-a-kind piece that’ll I’ll be wearing until it no longer fits.
Lots of people don’t care for belts, statement or otherwise. What about you?

OK, I can understand you don’t want to part with that massive leather belt. It is gorgeous. And belts do look bloody good on you. I have quite a few belts myself, although I haven’t got such a pretty hourglass figure. Sometimes I can fake it haha.

PS there are too many good outfits in this post to mention them all, but the one that blew me away is the long kimono outfit. What a beauty, what a statement.

Some fabulous belts and wonderful outfits! All of them look fabulous. Belts really do accentuate your hourglass figure.
I don’t wear belts as I don’t really have a waist anymore! I have a fat stomach, so belts tend to squeeze the fat up into even more of a ‘muffin’ top!
Hope your week is going well!

I think belts can be such a fabulous accessory!
I didn’t wear them much when I was working because wearing them on pants, makes going to the bathroom a longer experience–LOL!
But they can add so much fun to everything else!!
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that every woman should have a couple. No matter what your size or shape—they can be a fabulous optical illusion if they fit correctly!

That first beaded belt of yours–I’ve seen it so often and loved it, but have never found a similar one in real life, until recently, I found one shop in the capital city of this country that had a nice selection of ornate, flashy beaded designs, although these were on elastic waist belts that snapped closed in the back. I asked my parents to buy one as a Christmas gift, never even considering I might need to try it on–it’s elastic, this is Asia, of course it’ll fit. And when I snapped it on the belt was several inches too loose on my waist. It only fit on my hips, and it’s not meant to be worn on the hips. Grrrr! Such a disappointment! I could have played with it and altered it to fit, but it was so pretty just the way it was that I gave it to my little sister, since it fit her waist perfectly…

I, for one, am a big belt fan. Or should I say I’m a fan of big belts? haha You rock all these so well!

You really do have the loveliest collection of belts. I should definitely wear them more.

You certainly do rock a belt! I hope you are feeling better now?
I have been hunting for the perfect obi belt but am yet to find one. I have an anthropologie beaded belt but I picked the wrong colour (grey) and don’t wear it often. Warmer colours are more me. Thanks for the inspiration x

I’m not a huge fan of (statement) belts, as they don’t flatter my shape. Anyway, I’ve worn them sometimes!

It’s difficult to choose only one belt here, dear Suzanne, since I love statement belts too, and all are very beautiful! So I will stick to the lovely floral handmade DIY belt! Although one that you are wearing with the black dress is fabulous! And well, you look amazing in every picture! Hope you are feeling better, no more cold for this week and ahead! Bisous!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE belts and have a sizable collection of them myself. Most of them are wide and 90% were purchased via consignment or thrift shops. Many of them are quite old and the more unique a belt is the better I like it!
Your great figure was MADE to be flattered by a belt and you really do a nice job of choosing a belt to flatter your outfit. With some of my statement belts I tend to choose an outfit to highlight the belt and I’m now thinking I need to loosen up more.
Your belts with the leather/faux leather dresses are killer Suzanne!!! You look amazing in those dresses!!! So inspirational!

Great to see that you’re back on your feet again Suzanne,
You’ve really opened my eyes to how effectively a belt can change an outfit. I own so many belts, but I seem to have a default setting and just wear the same three or four time after time. Favourites I suppose, but what the heck am I doing with them if I’m not wearing them?
I adore the yellow bejewelled belt and am so impressed at how many looks benefit from that splash of colour. I have a navy one similar and a black one too, so maybe I need to do a bit of playing around.
The best one of all of your collection is the turquoise and silver one – wow, that’s a beauty!
Take it easy, and try not to overdo it.

I love these, and I adore your collection and how you styled them. My favorite is the embellished one with the silver maxi ball skirt! I also love the turquoise studded one with denim, and the mini red belt was a great touch too. I do love belts this season!

I’m a big fan of belts, and can’t stop buying them in charity shops, but mine are usually plain(er) ones. I do have a couple of statement belts too, but I was never sure how to wear them to their best advantage. You have given me some inspiration here, so thank you. You really know how to rock a belt! xxx

I have never worn belts much, except to hold up jeans that leave a gap in the back when I sit down, but I see how great your belts look and I think I need to play a little more. These aren’t just for utilitarian value. They add style and bling to your looks. I’ve clicked on a lot of the links you shared with hopes of finding my very own statement belts!

I’m not a big fan of belts as they don’t seem to do anything flattering for my shape. I appreciate how nicely they work on curvy figures like yours though – lots of great outfits in your post!

The brown leather double buckle… Ahhhh definitely my favorite! I bet it had a past life in the movie ‘Out of Africa’. It’s pieces like that that keep us second-handing it! Love to you – always inspiring!

That bedazzled belt is freakin’ amazing…love it! But my absolute favorite is the belted denim jacket over the leopard dress. Why? Believe it or not, many moons ago I saw that photo on Pinterest and that’s what led me to your blog!

I don’t wear belts often enough, even though I do love them. I have a cognac coloured leather obi belt like your black one that I really should wear more often. You have some really lovely belts, and they work well to make your outfit pop!

I love a statement belt. It’s amazing how such a small accessory can have such a big impact. Every time you wear the gold one with the colorful jewels, I sigh with envy. It is the loveliest. I purchased a style from Anthropologie over the holidays. It’s orange velvet with pink, gold, and ivory flowers and butterflies on it. Springy, yes, but I’ve managed to wear it several times already. An embellished belt brings such a cheerful, whimsical touch to an outfit.
