After my pontificating yesterday about how best to shop vintage stores it is only appropriate that today I am showing off my newest acquisition… the gold cocktail dress.
What isn't to love about this little cocktail dress?
From the curved front seam to the side bow.
Vintage 1950's
To the iridescent shine and hint of sparkle.
It's everything a gal could want and more.
I picked it up last week on our day of fun gallivanting downtown at a little (and I mean little, like 20 ft long and 10 ft wide!) new shop I'd never visited before called Print Vintage. They happened to have a big sale going on and this baby some how made it out the door with me for $45.
It is pristine and fit…
well you can see how well it fits.
It was a bit of a struggle because the store was so tiny, there were five other people in there, six if you include the sales assistant and we literally could not move. For a few moments there I felt my claustrophobia creeping up on me.
Don't worry folks…I wouldn't let panic and the inability to breathe impede my overwhelming compulsion to buy a vintage dress for my collection.
Breathing is so overrated.
I'm joking of course.
As long as there are great clothes buying opportunities and a big sale happening I can breathe.
Now excuse me while and I run and get a cocktail to go along with my dress.
I follow the unspoken rule, when wearing a cocktail dress…always (no excuses, like it is before breakfast) have a cocktail in hand.
What unspoken rules do you follow?

I love this on you- fits like a glove!
And very appropriate considering yesterdays post, indeed!
Simply gorgeous!! I love the lightly patterned tights you wore it with, too!
Just perfection, so good with the tights and shoes! I love seeing your vintage finds!
blue hue wonderland
Oooohhhh…. simply gorgeous. This is EXACTLY the style of dress my mom would wear — and I’d sit on the stairs, staring at her with wonder and envy. So feminine, so graceful. Adding light-colored fishnets was an inspired choice. This is really one of the nicest things I’ve seen in a long time.
beautiful! I love this era of dresses, and this one is such a beauty on you.
What a gorgeous dress, a really lovely find.
So what I always think about a vintage dress like that is that it is beautifully tailored, in a gorgeous fabric, fits perfectly, with great detail, and that to buy something new of comparable quality and style would cost way, way more. And you are never going to see another blogger or bump into another woman wearing that exact same dress!
The soft gold brocade is beautiful with your colouring. You need cocktails, immediately! xxx
Lovely – love the shoes too, may have to borrow those shoes.
That dress fits you a treat, so elegant and timeless, you look gorgeous (totally loving that pink & orange maxi from yesterday, too!) Cheers! xxxx
That is a gorgeous dress, and a very good cocktail+dress policy!
Just brilliant, dear Suzanne.

Lovely, lovely dress Suzanne, the color is exquisite on you, what a find!
I know those little places, they are great, you find the most amazing items in those places – I was looking at your collection of Vintage clothing, wow, it’s impressing!
Take care

That is gorgeous! I love it. I’m a big believer that I was born in the wrong era. I want to wear dresses like that every day!
You should have heard me squeal when I found this dress hanging on the rack marked down. : )
You are so right, and that is why I am hooked on vintage. I cannot stand the thought of knowing I’m wearing the same outfit, dress as someone else.
Are they high enough for you girlfriend? : )
That maxi would look amazing on you Vix. You’d have to take it in to fit your model figure though.
Considering I’ve only really “begun” shopping vintage the last year or so I guess I’m getting quite the little collection going.
Right?
seriously amazing dress, breathing can wait a little for something like that.

That dress was made for you to wear. There is nothing about it that isn’t perfect…except maybe the missing cocktail!

What a treat to find a vintage dress that is perfect for you. Haha..even at the price of not breathing 🙂 I love the soft tonal pattern and the cut of this dress. You’ve got a great eye for vintage!

I don’t actually see you holding a cocktail, but the dress is stunning on you without it!
It’s a fabulous, gorgeous cocktail dress destined for you! I breathe a little funny if I see something amazing, It’s not attractive! I hope you had a restorative cocktail x x x
OMG, perfect. Fits you beautifully. That colour really is lovely on you. Score. Serious score.
you were born to wear vintage. you look absolutely stunning!
I am breathless! Stunning dress, and you are wonderful! I also have bought some vintage ( accessories ) recently, and I find they have an extra beauty!
P.s.
great pick!!!
The fit, the color, the sheen – all just perfect. This dress looks like it was custom made just for you.
I really like the subtlety of the print mixing here with the patterned dress and tights! I always look for those little details for whatever reason. Haha. This ensemble is quite elegant!

How beautiful, Suzanne, both the dress and you! I had two champagne-mojitos to join you and your dress;-). Cheers!
Glad you agree : )
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! I am in love with this dress! Hmmm, wonder if some tailor could make a duplicate 😉
Sheer perfection at a very small price. Gosh, you are good. And yes, I would have overcome the crowdiness to get that dress (well… I mean one that would suit me as good as this one suits you).

Sheer perfection. I would have overcome a crowd as well (easy) if I could lay my hands on such a beauty and for such a price.
