I had never heard this term until recently several different bloggers mentioned it. It spiked my curiosity. As I am Canadian and fashion obsessed I wondered what is this mysterious Canadian Tuxedo that they speak of?
After scratching my head a bit I thought… might it be this?
Cause hot damn this Canadian knows how to wear a suit. Any suit. Even no suit. He wears it well.
Then I thought, well we can be a bit more casual sometimes so maybe it’s more like this Canadian
Cause sometimes you just need a little sweater action, as we all know in Canada it gets a little colder.
Or maybe it’s more like this Canadian…
Cause Micheal is no slob when it comes to dressing.
But then I thought, hang on…maybe it has nothing at all to do with what we are wearing but rather our attitude.
So then I thought it might look something like this,
Because Stephen doesn’t need a tux or even clothes for that matter to show that he is one fierce MoFo Canadian thru and thru.
But then I did some more research and apparently it looks like this,
or this
or this
Seriously??? Yes…I’m about as thrilled as Sean.
Clearly these guys are not Canadian and quite frankly I might add, rather disappointing Canadian imposters.
So I dove deeper down the rabbit hole of online research and I managed to discover that a Canadian Tuxedo is actually someone that wears denim on denim and in Canada we refer to this as the “Texas Tuxedo”.
Makes perfect sense now.
It’s all relative my friends. All relative.

Ha ha ha! Yep, both Canadian and Texan and an art form once lost, re-found. When I first started blogging I did a short-shorts version of the Canadian Tux and it was my biggest rated look on Chictopia for a year. Searchwords would find my blog with that, and I was afraid my “claim to fame” was my ridiculous outfit.
But no, people keep doing it much bigger and better than me, eh?
The eh is for the Canook in you. Happy Tuesday!

LOL. I only heard of the term “Canadian Tuxedo” recently. Personally I love double denim, but I’ve always called it just that, double denim! And hey, those Canadian guys are HOT.

ahahahahahah I have NEVER heard of the term Canadian Tuxedo! NEVER! I have heard of Texas Tuxedo, and honestly? I think it’s more fitting (sorry, Texas)! Always cracks me up how things come back around. Wasn’t just a few years ago when it was terrible to wear denim on denim? Or at least matching denim? AH, well. It IS all relative.

Hah, I’d seen the term lately, also, but didn’t know what it was. I thought it might include plaid flannel (sorry). Thanks for clarifying. And thanks for all those great pictures! Whew!

Thanks Nancy : )

Which ones? I know, you must be referring to Justin Timberlake : P Cause that is one bizarro suit! LOL
Suzanne says
You’re so right. It used to be a huge faux pas to wear brown and black or navy and black, now you can get away with anything.
Thanks for popping in Chandra : )

Ah…yes…the plaid flannel (although this year I actually did buy a plaid flannel shirt that I love! LOL) Another great myth about Canada. There are so many. I guess though it’s like us thinking that every American has a gun in their pocket. Stereotypes are hard to get away from.

Canadien Tuxedo isnt a reference to Canadien style, but rather an incident involving a denim-dressed Bing Crosby at a Vancouver hotel long ago. http://levisvintageclothing.com/bing/
