I have a bit of an obsession with thrifted leather.
One of the sections I head to first when I’m in a thrift store is the leather section.
Leather is timeless, classic and chic. It breathes, stretches and moves with you.
Leather lasts.
Leather jackets look even better with age.
This black leather pencil skirt with pockets was a no brainer. Especially when the thrift store had a manager’s special at 50% off all skirts.
The top was thrifted on the same day. I don’t think it has been worn. It is from Club Monaco and 100% cotton.
That cool eyeball brooch was a gift from the lovely Greetje.
Here are some more outfits showcasing leather style I’ve thrifted.
Red leather pencil skirt styled four ways.
The skirt was thrifted for $8 and is gorgeous.
Many of the leather pieces I’ve thrifted are from Danier, a Canadian leather store that I LOVE. I am very sad that they are bankrupt and closing. That is truly the end of an era as I grew up with Danier.
Here are just a few of my favourite Danier leather jackets I’ve purchased over the years.
I’m going to miss their great selection of uniquely coloured leathers and designs. They currently have most of their inventory on sale and also offer nice handbags.
As for me, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more of their pieces while thrifting as they will now be considered collector’s items.
I purchased another one of their skirts a couple of weeks ago at the Toronto vintage clothing show which I haven’t shared here yet…it is a fringed midi skirt!
Oh yeah baby!
How do you feel about leather? For or against?

That’s a good point – it’s not often you can find a piece of clothing in a shop that looks better for being worn to death! I would really quite like a leather pencil skirt; I feel like I have a gap in my closet for one. Not a literal gap, mind you, hahahaha. As if.
Ha ha! If there was a literal gap in my closet I’d think someone had robbed us. Someone with a fetish for vintage and leather. Ha ha! Otherwise husband and I are always fighting over closet space.
You look super in all! Total faves are the blazer and blue jacket. I must find a skirt now. Love how in each look you incorporate fun colors and different pieces. So fun. Have a super spring break.
I guess my “thinking tall” has worked ; P
Hope you are enjoying your spring break as well.
Denim, leather and suede all get better with age!
You’ve got an amazing collection of leather here, there’s so many I’d happily borrow from you, there’s some absolute stunners!
I’ve got a few vintage coloured leather jackets and quite a few on our rails – the 1960s and 1970s leather coats are really popular.
I adore suede but it’s having a major fashion moment right now so I’ve had to ransack my wardrobe to keep up with demand. I’ll be buying it all back at a pittance when the hipsters move on to the next big thing! xxx
Ah, the hipsters. : )
Wow…you do have an obsession!! Of course, for such a great deal, how can you pass it up? I’m surprised you haven’t gone all DIY on one of those skirts—embellished it, painted it….something you wonderfully creative people do!!
I will admit to buying a faux leather skirt just yesterday at Goodwill—-I’m making it a fringed skirt!! jodie

Oooh! How exciting! I cannot wait to see how it turns out!
It has taken me a good amount of time just trying to cut off the bottom of my thrifted jeans as I’m doing a DIY on them. LOL I’m always unsure I’m going to “wreck” the item. I’d feel even worse about leather. A painted leather skirt could be so cool though. I need to suggest that to Melanie.
I feel the same way. It’s a magical material. And you have the Big Personality to carry it off. (I have a Little Personality That Hopes To Grow Up And Become A Big Personality Like Suzanne Someday.)
For a big lawyer and motorcycle rider it is hard to believe that you consider yourself a small personality. Your actions seem to scream otherwise lady : P Even if you do hide behind a quiet, shy, demeanour.
Superb collection there! Love the leather pencil skirt – just so cool and sophisticated without even having to try and as for that red leather one – woo hoo! I’m now going to have to look for one myself!

I’m shocked…SHOCKED that you don’t already own one or two!
I know, I’m hanging my head in shame at not owning a red leather skirt. I shall try and do better. Do I get brownie points for owning 3 black leather skirts though??????
I am here for the leather and I’m loving everything. Everything. Now I’m gonna have to wear my leather skirt… It has been sitting in my closet forever.
You need to remedy that STAT.
You have the best leather collection! And you’re rocking the pencil skirts. I just bought a black leather moto jacket for my son to wear to Tolo (50’s theme) for $7 at the thrift store. I’ll be stealing it from him now that the dance is over!
Wha??? Sounds like a great score! Can’t wait to see YOU wearing it : ) No pressure though. Ha ha!
You have so many great leather pieces. I have always appreciated leather wear because they last forever. I don’t own too many of it since it’s too warm for California

Hope to see you for TBT Fashion link up.
Did you get much wear out of your Danier piece?
wouuu, this is one of my favorite posts ever, such an amazing collection of fabulousness!!!, I’m loving every piece and how you’ve styled them, and how gorgeous you look wearing them!!
Even if it’s imposible to pick a favorite, love particularly your orange coat, but I’m also very fond of your purple skirt! and all your jackets!. Actually, love all of them!
besos
I kind of go crazy for bold coloured leather since it isn’t often that you see it.
You and leather are meant to be together! A leather pencil skirt could be called “The Suzanne.”
I am thing of a wee trip to Toronto in June/July – think you’ll be around?? xox

Oooh! How exciting! I should be here. No plans at the moment. Let me know more!
I’m looking for a full or A line leather skirt at the moment, but haven’t been lucky enough to find the perfect one!
I used to have loads of leather skirts, but I put on weight and I sold them, now I’ve lost it again I wish I hadn’t!
I’ve had some give away regrets for the exact same reason.
Lucky for me I’d given them to my sister and was able to ask for a few of them back. ; P
Wow never seen a blogger with so many (thrifted) leather clothing pieces!
Some of these are real good combined! Very nice

I see a lot of envious lucky breaks here. Hehe. Amazing finds!

Yes. That and a very serious addiction. ; P
I am definitely FOR! Oh my that red skirt is THE BEST!!! I have been hunting for leather pants for AGES…I always find them too small. Whaa! I will not give up though! :o)
JJ
Leather pants are tricky to find in the exact right size.
I’m sending some thrifting fairy luck your way.
Suzanne
I love your collection! SO many great colors you have and I love the fitted ones most. I think my fav outfitis the rust leather jacket and skirt. Fabulous..woud be my taste! Since I cant stand long, I have to thrift online. ie poshmark and ebay. I also wear more leather jackets being in the South, as I dont need many heavy winter coats. Great styles!
Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!

Seeing all of your leather/suede collection laid out like this was somewhat overwhelming – Holy Cow, you have a stupendous collection of thrifted pieces!!! I often go to the leather section at thrift stores too, but haven’t found anything interesting lately, mostly giant shouldered 80’s jackets and too small leather pants. I would love to have a black leather skirt with pockets.
I had no idea that Danier was going out of business! That is sad, they always had really nice pieces, and that was where I purchased my first new leather jacket (which unfortunately, is too small on me).
I JUST went thrifting yesterday and found a leather DRESS that I LOVED! Unfortunately, it didn’t love me back. 🙁
That sucks. I would have loved to have seen a photo nonetheless.
WOW you have amazing amazing leather pieces! So many fun ones and you create such beautiful outfits. I especially love the red skirt and purple to, thats so awesome. I have a few leather skirts and need to pull them out more often. Would be fun to have a few more colorful ones though 🙂
OK, does anyone actually own this much leather? WOW! I’m only a little bit jealous of your collection. I love leather but its so difficult to find just the right pieces that fit and look nice at the same time, but look at you just making it look so simple. You seriously have quite the clothing collection, my friend and both a red and a purple skirt?
My goodness you have a good collection !!! Perfect. Everything looks good on you. You were born to wear leather. I especially like that red pencil skirt and the orange coat. But that is actually not nice to the other outfits. As they are all great.
Greetje
Great collection! I love leather and you look so good in to!
