Today.
Booties – vintage, Skirt – Anthropologie, Sweater – H&M, Scarf – Mod Cloth, Chambray – Tristan
Today I am wearing fleece lined PJs with a sweatshirt on top, fashionable layering.
Carrying a box of Kleenex and a jar of Vicks everywhere I go. Not quite as sexy as a designer handbag and iphone.
I have on thick socks stuffed inside my UGG boots/slippers. Unlike these cute socks and vintage booties.
And I have been drinking hot water all day, in between gargling with warm salted water. Somehow this doesn't carry the same sohpisticated cachet as a glass of wine, champagne or an ice cold martini.
Yes, Autumn is here and with it the comes flu season.
Seems I will need to convince my husband that wearing a surgical mask while taking the GO train into downtown TO really is…
Très à la mode darhling! (recited in my best Zsa Zsa Gabor voice)
Either that or I need to start wearing one all the time at home. I can hear what you are all saying…
sexaaahy!
(Check back soon for more ways on how to keep your love life exciting and new!)
I can't stand wearing a mask when I'm sanding furniture pieces to avoid lead poisoning. I don't know how I'd manage to keep one on all day.
Honestly I don't know how the Asians do it.
I'm going to get my husband to ask someone the next time he is there…and maybe stock up on some masks.
Do you have any tricks to avoid getting sick when those around you are spewing out germs like confetti on New Year's?
Please excuse me now while I take my entourage of pug, kleenex, Vicks and hot water back up to bed with me.
Mariah eat your heart out.
I am diva hear me roar.
Well not right now because I've lost my voice, but you get the gist.

It’s so common to see people wearing masks out and about in Malaysia! I’ll even see little kids keeping them on throughout entire classes! I can’t get the hang of it–but I do think you look very classy here. And the truth of what I’m wearing today is…jeans and a tee and a big cozy blanket! it’s cold in this house!
Tamera Beardsley says
Hope you feel better my dear!
I think someone should start a link up of … what I really wear sometimes :))…. sometimes I end up in workout wear all day… and laugh that I even post outfits :))
Take care my friend!

Aw, you’s sick. Hug your pug, and feel better soon! No real tricks here. If your immune system is overworked and underpaid, pesky viruses have an easier time settling in. Hand washing and Neti pots are helpful though.

Then we are sisters cause we just had Thanksgiving here on the Monday and that is when I started to get sick. Perfect timing…

Suzanne you always look so great. Everything always work so well for you. Great outfit! Love your style. It’s so cool.
Sorry to hear you’re under the weather. Hope you get better pretty soon.

CUTE! I love the bow and the hat and the socks. I’ve had bronchitis for a week, ugh. Feeling for you my sister in sickness.

One of the best things about being sick is spending the day in jammies but I hope you feel better soon! <3

So sorry about the sickness! That sucks. This is my kit too: “kleenex, Vicks and hot water” and the remote control so I can watch really bad TV. Hope you’re better very soon, and btw — great outfit!

Hope you feel better – I feel your pain and I think I got my little boy sick too. I always laugh when I see people with those surgical masks, I am not sure that it really works. They always say…wash your hands is the best prevention. Make sure your hubby washes his hands before he touches anything when he gets home 🙂

So sorry you’re sick…that sucks! Cuddle with the pug, that always helps. Do love the outfit though, especially the broaches on the hat.
Feel better soon!

Seems like a few people are sick right now. Get better soon!
Adrienne says
Well that stinks! I try to wash my hands a lot during the flu season and I keep some really good hand sanitizer in my car and use it before I even start the engine after being in anywhere that involves me touching things. I also take 50 mcg of zinc when I know people around me are sick.
Feel better soon! Cute oxfords, by the way.
Highland Fashionista says
Handwashing. There is no substitute. That, and a nutrient-dense diet that is full of leafy greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, and nuts. Innate immunity beats everything. Surgical masks actually don’t really protect you from viral infection all that well. Okay…at all.
Suzanne says
Okay this is totally new to me. I thought that surgical masks were the gold standard. I’m sure you are aware when Toronto had its outbreak of SARS during which time hand sanitizer and surgical masks became very popular. Since SARS is viral and they were wearing masks to protect themselves and nurses didn’t get sick I am wondering if they don’t protect a bit better than you give them credit?
Obviously hand washing is #1 but although I don’t foresee myself personally wearing a mask, unless we get another SARS or the like outbreak, I do think that they can help avoid the airborne mucous particles that spread the virus. ( or at least I like to believe this…fingers crossed!)

That said we are vegetarian and do eat tons of veg, fruit and nuts but it never seems to be enough to protect us from the flu bug each and every year.
Oh…and we are kind of obsessive germaphobes. We wash our hands each time we enter the house. Yet still hubby brings it in the house and then I get it as soon as he is better.

Stopping by from WIWW and I think your outfit is great! Also, I love your sense of humor…I was laughing the whole time. I do hope you get better soon! New follower 🙂

Hello Suzanne-I’m just catching up with my faves after a crazy couple of weeks. I do hope you are feeling better by now. As for tips to stay healthy? I do use hand-sanitizer, especially during travel or visiting school sites (lots of high fives). I also developed something I call ‘public hand’ (my right) for door handles, phones, pens…all that stuff. My left I reserve for more personal things like snacking, scratching an itch on my face (to keep germs away). Now I realize I have disclosed waaay too much. 😉
Happy weekend gorgeous!
xx, Heather

Hahaha, funny written. Even when a cold and a flu are never funny, really. Are you feeling better? Hope so!
I will avoid kissing my husband whenever one of us has the flu, and I will try ro avoid shaking hands with people when I or they are sick. But that’s all I will do or refrain of.
About wearing these masks : research has shown that wearing one when you are sick is helpfull…for others. Wearing one to avoid getting sick ( like some Asians do) does not help a lot.
Get well soon!

I’m so sorry you’re sick! Bleck! Cold weather stinks and so does flu season.
I must say though, this may be a favorite outfit for me! It has so much interest and you made it look easy and comfortable. You look like someone I would want to follow around and see what books you read and drinks you order. 😉
