Do you ever go into stores and just pick out entire outfits? I have this annoying habit of doing just that.
Case in point.
Annoying because it costs me money.
I literally told Robert, "We can't go into Anthropologie unless you promise to ensure I don't buy a thing. Nothing. Even if it's on sale. I'm just going to look. Not buy. I'm only there for inspiration."
Uh huh.
Famous last words.
Why couldn't I be someone that has zero fashion sense, and no idea how to dress their body?
The type that takes 50 pieces into the fitting room, spends an hour cursing under their breath, trying on each ill fitting horrible piece, every one worst than the last, finally leaving the fitting room, flustered and angry because nothing even remotely worked. Defeated, they rush home to drown their mounting depression in a vat of salted caramel ice cream smothered with dark chocolate sauce buried under a mountain of crumbled graham wafer cookies while watching old reruns of What Not To Wear in their PJs.
Oh no.
Not me.
I walk straight to the sales rack, literally pull out these two pieces and take them to the fitting room. Two pieces folks!
And walk out looking like this.
Pug photo bomb. Please remind me not to try to take photos when it is close to Zoe's supper.
Just 2 pieces. Out of the whole store.
I can do that 95% of the time.
It's sick.
Take away this Super Power. I don't want it anymore. It is ruining me.
The shoes were bought the same day at the consignment store when Robert took some of his clothes in to sell.
Yes, Robert was selling and I was buying. I was hoping you wouldn't pick up on that.
The fact is though that they are so picky at that store that they wouldn't take 80% of my clothes. I have to take mine to a different store. I don't have all high end brand names like hubby. The only stuff I have that would be considered higher end is my Anthro stuff and I'm not selling any of my Anthro collection.
Seriously.
Would you want to sell this cardigan?
Ever?
Skirt and Cardi- Anthropologie, Shoes – Anyi Lu, Necklace – handmade by me : ) Handbag – vintage Glasses – Firmoo
Even the pug is looking at me wondering why I would ask something so stupid. And why I haven't fed her yet.
She is cute but she doesn't understand Mommy's super power.
Do you ever wish you weren't so good at choosing clothing for yourself?

I love this outfit to pieces. The shoes go so perfectly with everything, the skirt has an awesome pattern and OMG- that embroidery. Love it!
Oh, Suzanne, that gave me a good laugh – especially Zoe’s thoughts, poor hungry dear! That cardigan is so gorgeous it’s a no-brainer, even for hopeless indecisive shoppers like me. But picking out just the right skirt – and it fits like a glove! – that is where your superpowers excel. Oh, and the shoes and accessories, too. Don’t curse your gift – enjoy it. And if you run out of money, no more window shopping “for inspiration.”
Hah! I’m in your other category. I have never, ever been able to put together an outfit. It’s its own curse because it means you buy lots and lots of separates and nothing goes with anything else, so you’re broke AND you have nothing to wear.
I know…once I bought the outfit I just HAD to go back and get the shoes. I knew they would be perfect.
You are right. Best not to go into any stores. As Oscar Wilde aptly put it, “I can resist anything but temptation”.
LOL Okay I didn’t think of that.
i love this skirt
I usually just hope none of the stuff that I take into the dressing room works, so I can walk away without spending all my money or feeling bad because I liked it yet couldn’t afford it. It kind of makes no sense to even be trying clothes on if you know you shouldn’t be spending money, yet I can’t seem to resist the temptation if I see something that I really like (especially at Anthropologie). That store is like some fantasy world. It lures me in with it’s intoxicating aromas and artful displays. I know I’m in trouble every time I set my foot in this place.
We seem to suffer from the same affliction.
Wow! That’s an amazing cardigan! Fantastic combination, I can see why you bought it.
Thanks for linking up with 52 Pick-me-up.
That cardigan is a KEEPER! Sell it? such blasphemy.
I don’t think I have quite your superpowers. I label myself as a hit-and-miss fashionista.
That cardigan is a museum worthy work of art. Goodness gracious! I would have been very hard pressed not buy it, too, no matter what I’d sworn up and down beforehand that I would (or wouldn’t do). Smitten! 🙂

I love this post! Anthro is my favorite store and, like you, I can’t ever go in without finding something irresistible to buy. This cardi and skirt are gorgeous. Lucky you snagged ’em before I went in. 🙂
the pattern on the back of that cardi is just amazing! i def just avoid stores except for thrift stores since i’m also so tempted to buy things and on a tiny budget right now. those shoes are awesome you have too btw! and your convo w/ hubs sounds like mine w/ ice cream… don’t let me buy it or i’ll eat it all w/ hubs saying – oh but you can ration it out haha.

You look gorgeous with your hair like that! That cardi is stunning, I adore peacocks! x
That card would have been hard to leave behind and yes this outfit totally rocks, how could you leave it? Can you believe I have never ever been in that store, not once. I love how it looks but I know it’s expensive. You are tempting me stop 🙂
xxoo
Whew…now I don’t feel *quite* as guilty. Mind you, I think bloggers are terrible enablers.
Good thing we’re not shopping together ; ) Could have gotten rough.
Seriously? Why are guys so funny? Ration out ice cream. As if! Those little tubs are single serving size if you ask me. Ben and Jerry knew that when they designed them.
I feel like I’m taking after you a bit with the hair : )
You are a super-hero! And you have to be careful with your awesome powers. Love this outfit, including the fabulous footwear. xox
Think of the doll asylum on crack but with artful displays and no gore. LOL Seriously, you need to visit the store just like you did the doll asylum…stop, stare and admire. I forgot to mention…be sure NOT to take your wallet ; )
holy gorgeous cardigan!! I love when an outfit just falls together, except I totally know what you mean about ALWAYS finding something you think you now NEED. It sucks when you don’t have money like me haha if I could afford anything in Anthro there’s no way I’d go in there 😉

Hahaha! My puppy has that same look when it’s dinner time and I’m busy doing my own thing. Anthro is a dangerous place. I don’t think I’ve ever walked out of there empty handed. You look beautiful, dahling! 🙂
WOWOWOW!!! From top to toe you look amazing!!! I bought a jacket and a top at Anthropologie recently – how can you possibly NOT buy anything when you go there? You know you’ll always find something you love and need!!
The cardigan is a work of art and I love your updo!!!
♥ carmen
Do you have a pug? They pretty much go around with that look on their faces all day long. Even if they’ve just eaten. LOL
It really needs to come with a warning sign on the outside of the door. Or make you sign a waiver or something when you walk in the store.
“You acknowledge that coming into this store may be lethal to your bank account.”
Whew : ) I’m not alone with this issue. I can’t wait to see your jacket and top!
You have great shopping powers Suzanne! That sweater is jaw breaking gorgeous!!! If I didn’t put a shopping ban on myself- I would run to Anthro for the whole outfit!

Hmmm, that cardi looks like it would be worth skipping a mortgage payment for. I only own two Anthro pieces, scored while crawling about on my hands and knees in the sale room, during a period when The Costume Technician lived close to a store. Oh, and a third thrifted skirt. But I prize them like jewels 🙂
It would have been wrong to leave these perfect pieces for a lesser being lol.
Ok, so that cardigan is insane! And the skirt is perfect with it, so how could you not buy the outfit? Perhaps it is a curse, but what fun would your blog be if it was just pics of you eating salted caramel ice cream?!

Hahahaha, that was funny. And so recognizable. Anyone who blogs about outfits is more than averagely interested in buying clothes. You just have the talent to pick the right items straight away. I need lots of help. But I am very determent. And therefore reach the same result: broke. I had to give my credit cards to my husband out of self protection. I have reached the bottom of the barrel. LOL
Greetje
Sorry, forgot to say that all items you are wearing are smashing!
I’ll be posting the them before Christmas! 🙂
Shopping ban? I don’t remember reading that on your blog… I want to know how long you last…I mean how long it’s for ; )
Hmmmm….you’ve given me an idea. I’m sure there are some fetish freaks out there that would love photos of me just eating salted caramel ice-cream. I’d probably have better stats than I have now! LOL
If I gave my credit cards to my husband he’d just spend more on himself! I’m afraid that he too is a bit of a fashion horse.
We need to start an online help group maybe. Off the top of my head I can name 10 other people that should join the group ; )
Poor little cursed gal! Hahaha…NOT….
Want, want, want, this whole outfit!!! That vest is superb. I have similar vests and I luv them.
Like you, I go to a shop and when I see something, I know immediately that that will go well with certain items in my closets. When I come home, very specific colors as by coincidence match perfectly to items that I already had that have something of that same unusual color in it. It’s like an inner color- and style compass, I guess.
My lack of money comes to the rescue, as I therefor simply sort of ‘convicted’ myself to buy at H&M or at thrift shops, which is cheap. If I would have a lot of money, I would make other choices. I love Anthropology (but own nothing of them), Family Ibiza (bags, again: own nothing of them), Sendra boots (same story), and other brands, so I would buy stuff from them.
But it’s fine this way too;-).
