Here I am showing off my best “biker meets boho” maxi skirt outfit styled with leather, but really I want to welcome you to my new digs!
What do you think?
I’m still trying to get used to things around here, and there are still a few details that need to be worked out so please let me know if you have any issues navigating or with the functionality of the new blog.
Everyone that updates their Bloglovin’ subscription will be automatically entered to win the full collection of all my Bloggy Friends Cards.
Everyone that chooses to sign up with me via my new email subscription form will be entered to win the full collection of my cards, plus this handmade necklace.
Also all my email subscribers will get a free monthly printable gift, the little Hawaiian pug Thank You card.
Both contests close December 20th.
Onto the outfit details…this is another one of the vintage pieces I picked up from the epic estate sale. Originally it was a full dress, I had it made into a maxi skirt. In reality I have another full black maxi skirt underneath this and tights. I’m trying to layer away the cold. #ragingagainstmothernatureisfutile
I managed to take quite a few shots before winter slammed us, but very soon it will be all indoor photos again.
There is snow and wind and it is FREEZING cold now. It currently feels like -20 with the wind chill. No joke. It’s not even DECEMBER for pug’s sake!!!
Okay…breathe Suzanne…just breathe.
Go to your happy place in your head…
sunny skies and fluffy pugs!
Breathe.
Breathe.
Whew.
Okay…I’m back : )
The newest addition to my wardrobe is this leather biker jacket from Danier. I’ve been waiting for a long time to find the perfect biker jacket and I’m hoping this is it.
I like the contrast of the floral feminine maxi skirt with the tough masculine leather. It is a shame I wasn’t able to set up the camera better…you don’t get a full shot of those booties. They are by Guess and add about 3 inches to my height. They easy to walk in as they have a large platform. They remind me of something Stevie Nicks would wear. Ah…the 80’s…(sigh).
I must admit I don’t feel quite at home composing this new post here yet…I’m feeling a bit off…so please let me know if something isn’t working.
I’m off to my happy place for a bit…

Great work on your blog Suzanne. It looks great!
Such a pretty outfit too. I love the combination with the girly flower elements and rocker jacket. This outfit is so YOU! I absolutely adore that picture of you sitting amongst the plants!

Digging the new leather jacket- and the new blog site! One thing though- that link to update bloglovin’ is taking me to your bloglovin’ page for your typepad site. Do you have bloglovin’ for this new site?
carillo suzanne says
Thanks so much for pointing that out Kristian : ) I think I fixed it now. The new Bloglovin’ should be

Happy new blog, Suzanne! It looks fab. I’m sure you’ll get used to the new layout soon.
That skirt is gorgeous, love the boots and the tooled leather bag and I bet you’ll be getting loads of wear out of the jacket, the perfect wardrobe piece to add an extra bit of cool to your already amazing wardrobe.
I’m following on Bloglovin’ and also updated the address in my blog sidebar. xxxx
carillo suzanne says
Thanks for updating your sidebar address. You are always a few steps ahead of me lady ; P

The new site looks great 🙂 Love your jacket and your bag. Wondering so, does wearing two skirts actually help against the cold? If so, I just might have to try it when temperatures start to really drop here.

Well layering the skirts along with tights, preferably fleece lined tights when it is -5 or colder is a good thing, but never as good as simply staying inside! LOL

I think you look fab and I’ve changed the bloglovin’ follow to this new address. I like the look of the new blog and that your art is being shown right away. I enjoy seeing this part of your creativity.
Shani says
I’m having a problem leaving comments. It doesn’t seem to want to let me.
Shani says
Ah…but then it did that time. It just took a long time to load. I’d been trying to say you look fab, as does the new site. I’ve changed the follow on Bloglovin’ to this new address and am looking forward to following you at your new blogging digs.
carillo suzanne says
Hi Shani,
It is taking an abnormal about of time for the blog to load…eeek! Technical problems. What would the world be without some technical problems? (Easier..Duh!) Hopefully I’ll get it sorted out soon. Glad you were finally able to comment here.

Fantastic new site! I can see all the work that has gone into this transition. I’ve signed up with Blogger and did my sidebar thing – I’m so bad at cleaning those things.
Your dress, now skirt, great pattern. I love it and it’s just the thing to keep that snow in its place. Layering all the way. Snow there? And I thought we had it bad in Van…
carillo suzanne says
It went through Melanie…I imagine it is just the long response time it is taking for everything on the blog right now. I’m hoping to get it fixed. Let me know if you have any other issues.
Ah yeah! Snow and COLD!!! : (

Loving the new design! I am envious of what you can do with the sewing machine and the visions you have to refashion a piece to make it work of you. I always love outfits that have a good balance of feminine with an edge and you did a great job here. Both the skirt and the jacket are great additions to your closet. Stay warm my friend – that’s is literally freezing cold!!!

Hey, hey! 😀 Awesome job on the new digs! I have a similar jacket, but it isn’t vintage, so its sucks. Haha. Just kidding. I love the one you have, though! Fantastic bag, too!

Looking fancy, Suzanne! Both the new blog, and the outfit are stylish and gorgeous. I’m sure you’ll iron out any rough spots as you go along.
Of course I love that maxi, what a fantastic print, and it looks just great with the cool biker jacket and boots. Rock chick meets boho babe – perfect! xxx

I LOVE your new site! I am not a fan of change, but this is a good one. You did a great job! I also adore your new leather jacket! It is so edgy and hot! I am sorry it is so cold there. I hope you get a break soon. That skirt is so beautiful. Again, eaten with jealousy. I love that you turned a dress into a skirt. Genius.

Oh wonderful… your new blog!!! Looking spiffy! I like it a lot. Just like your outfit. As Sylvia said (and you too) the contrast between the floral and the tough leather jacket is the tension you want in an outfit.
The boots look fantastic. And of course you have to wear a skirt underneath the floral skirt as the latter one is breezy by the look of it. And have you ever considered tights? Or leggings underneath it? To keep you nice and warm. I have to say… winter comes fast and fierce in your neck of the woods.
Oh I saw Vix’comment… I will update your blog address in my list (you might have to give a little nudge in next post?). As a matter of fact I was going to your site because I needed the url for a link in my next post. And surprise… new site!
And I will sign up for email warnings. I wanted to do that ages ago.
Of course I will let you know if I see something not quite right.

Love this gorgeous maxi, that was clever indeed to have it made from a dress. Love the styling, the biker meets boho look is a favorite of mine. Gorgeous boots! Congrats on the transition, it is never easy!
