This dress is starting to feel a little bit short for me. Or maybe it was because I hadn’t used any tanning lotion on my legs.
Solution? Wear jeans underneath.
They are more like jeggings. My favourite pair.
If I did yoga I’m sure I could wear these jeggings.
But I don’t do yoga. It’s not good for people with Fibromyalgia. But neither is my personality.
I have a type A personality. And I am quite competitive. Even with myself.
Yesterday for example I decided to workout. I started out on the treadmill, even though I had somehow injured my foot about four weeks ago. I figured it would work itself out. I’d taken a running/workout break for 15 days trying to let whatever the issue was heal. When I got back on the TM today it was painful at first, but the more I pushed myself the less I figured I could feel the pain. So I pushed. And then I pushed some more. Just because I hadn’t worked out in so long and I felt like I could should.
Then I got off the treadmill and did some weight training. I was well into the, “No Pain, No Gain”.
When I started into my cool down stretch I began to feel sick.
I won’t lie it was a bit of a struggle making it up the stairs to the shower.
By the time I needed to pick up my husband I could barely walk out to the car (thanks foot!) and had some serious nausea.
So yeah, my personality isn’t doing me any favours. Other people need a coach to tell them to train harder, run more, I need the opposite.
Do you have any personality traits that don’t necessarily work in your favour all the time?
Back to the outfit…and how to wear jeans with a dress…
5 Looks I love on how to wear jeans with a dress.
I noticed each of us chose to wear quite sleek fitting jeans/pant and heels for this look.
Do you ever wear jeans with a dress?

Yikes there, lady! Take it easy. I completely understand the need to push though, but don’t do anything permanent.
I absolutely love this look on you. But I’m a dress over jeans kinda girl, I think it extends the wear of your clothes and adds a bit more versatility.
I’ve never worn jeans with a dress and didn’t know it was a “thing.” I’d reach for tights instead, but I can see how jeans offer a different, edgier look.
We all need to balance our instincts. Some need to push harder, some need to pull back a bit. Overdoing exercise is both a sign of your personality and a cause of trouble. Ease up, my friend!
Great way to wear this awesome leather dress. I love leather clothes! I love the pants with dress look too. Could you link this great outfit to my Top of the World Style fashion linkup party on Thursday on http://www.highlatitudestyle.com? Thanks.
I am quite like you where sometimes I push myself too far! Usually it’s a good trait, though! Loving this look!
I love these edgy looks.
I don’t love hearing you got sick – take it a little easier on yourself, we need you. What am I talking about — my singing teacher called me an “over-achiever” after three lessons (not because I am so good, but because I want to memorize the German song immediately). Rest a little and stay fabulous. xox
Ha ha! Why does that not surprise me?
Yep. I like the look of a fitted bottom and mid thigh length top (dress or tunic), be it leggings or skinny jeans. I just like leggings in general and wear them with about anything.
P.S. Phffff…and I forgot to say…you look great in this outfit!
I’m not competitive but I have no time for illness and pain so, like you, I tend to overdo the exercise when my arthritis is playing up and end up in a worse state than I started.
Love the dress with jeans. I used to do that a lot but I haven’t got any now. I never seem to find a second hand pair of jeans I like any more.
Feel better soon. xxx
I hardly ever remember seeing you wear jeans.
Seems like your comment has replicated itself like a bunny rabbit.

I’m competitive also, but I must say that old age has taught me about kindler/gentler work outs!! The body will only put up with so much, even though your mind says “go.” I have to say I’ve never worn jeans under a dress, but why not…a dress is very much like a tunic! Great going! jodie

I’ve not worn jeans with dresses and I think it’s probably because it’s too hot here. Well of course maybe this week I should, our local mountains are expecting snow this Friday and we have none this winter.
I am really hard on myself when it comes to working out. I do Crossfit 5x a week and though you are not competing against the other members, I find myself pushing harder because I don’t want to be last or week. I rarely take time off because I don’t want my body to lose the strength. Just call me a nut.

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
Gorgeous! I haven’t tried jeans with a dress, although I’ve been doing leggings lately. I like this look alot.
I did the exact same thing yesterday. I was still sore from our Sunday ropes course – then I went to cardio circuit and completely overdid it. By the time I got home I was completely nauseous and had a headache. Getting older sucks :)!
Oh my goodness! I hope your foot is better!, please rest it (although I understand exactly what you are saying, I do it e.g. the other day I was out doing my walking with a twinging groin, and I wouldn’t stop, why would I? haha!) I LOVE your outfit btw, so sleek, chic and gorgeous and a brilliant idea although I don’t own jeans I have a pair of cut-offs I wear in the summer AND some too short dresses, now I must find my cut-offs immediately! x x x
I don’t think I’ve ever worn a dress over jeans. I’m not a big fan of jeans, and can rarely find any that fit me. I prefer to wear tights, thigh-highs or knee socks, depending on the dress.
I am one of the least competitive people I know, so pushing myself that hard on a workout is unlikely to happen to me. Of course this could be why I gained 10 pounds last year. Take it easy there girl, you’re going to seriously hurt yourself!
I have never tried jeans with a dress but I must say you totally rock that look!

Hi Suzanne, I think I mentioned how much Ilove this dress, the color shape,it looks great with jeans. I never tried it as I cant have things too closet to my body due to sensitivity, but i love the examples. I have a similar personality. I have muscular knots in my shoulders and back referring to my right arm, but I keep on typing.. I understand!!
Thank you for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday

Oh yeah, I’ve worn jeans under a dress, sometimes just to piss myself off – the look, with wide, baggy jeans, is just, um, a good reason why you don’t see this look very often.
I hope you are mending!! Would a timer help? Probably not. Exercise-wise, I push when I shouldn’t as well. But that hasn’t happened in a while. When I start up again, I know I’ll overdo it.
I love the jeans with this dress. Good rescue.
All look great – you in your red leather dress and other girls! I think I’ve done it only once or twice, but I want to try again, and just like you show here, my idea was a shorter dress over jeggings. We’ll see if I actually like it on me. 🙂
Though, I’m not especially competitive, I do have moments when I just can’t stop – once I started, I go to the max. It’s exhausting! Fell better soon! xxx
Ahh, that dress looks like it was made for you. Fits like a glove! Oh and those shoes! My favorite shoes. 😀

Love your look! And I admire your tenacity…just don’t let it kill you. I’ve had to relinquish control during allergy attacks. The first time it happened, I thought I could teach for the rest of the day. No, I had to be rushed to the ER because I was a stubborn idiot. At least you are not alone.
It’s already in the 80s here in Nashville, so I think I have a few months before I can pair jeggings under a dress. It will certainly be a new way to style some of my shorter dresses. I expected a lot of layered, bohemian, and eclectic looks, but the majority of these are quite minimalist and chic. I like!

Jeans with a dress, jeggings, leggings and treggings with a dress: sure! Works great! Like your look does and the looks of the ladies in your article. Love it.
Type A personality. I know all about that. It’s what made me get a burn-out, about 10 years ago now. I broke down and never returned to my ‘old self’. Which is good to a certain extent. Meaning that my body simply does not DO type A stuff no more. I get called back by my body super fast and get sick, probably similar to what you experienced.
I get sick from doing intensive sports even, as I learned in the past. Even when I’m not overdoing it. I read that that is more often the case with people that have M.E. or CFS, like me.
