I am a huge fan of oxfords, or brogues as the Brits calls them.
I think they are the perfect shoes for spring. They keep my feet warm and look chic. I can wear them with dresses, skirt, shorts, jeans, or dress pants.
Okay I don’t actually own any dress pants, but if I did, I could wear one of my (…ahem…cough…cough….) 8 pairs of brogues with them. I also own about 5 pairs of high heeled brogues that are on another shelf.
How to wear oxfords in spring?
However you like.
Helpful right?
Truly though, they should go with just about everything you can throw at them.
They are the Swiss Army knife of shoes.
Here is one way I’d like to wear mine for Spring…
That is…if Spring ever decides to show up this year.
Here are some other ways I’ve worn my oxfords…
here with jeans and a cute doggie sweater
an outfit I want very much with classic stripes
and finally one of my heeled versions with a LBD…very French.
Do you like or wear oxfords?
What do you normally wear them with?
First we gelled on tulle skirts, and now oxfords. I’m wearing mine all the time and loving it. Not giving a fig if they’re “appropriate” for an ahem, wise old woman. Don’t allow me in your closet, it will be bare if you turn your back! xox
You’re quite right – they go with everything, and these days there’s such a wide choice of styles, colours, textures etc. that you could wear a brogue with every outfit. I wear mine with all sorts! x
Loving your oxford collection and your styling tips. I have several pair, but never wear them. You have inspired me to give them a try!!!
I love my oxfords too and have about 5 or 6 pairs. I love wearing them with everything too. I have not tired wearing it like how you did in the last picture wish some socks exposed – very fun!

Hope to see you for TBT Fashion link up.
You’ve got me beat in that department…I only have three pairs. I never thought to wear them with shorts! Thanks for the styling tips!

I own 1 pair, but never wear them. I am so stuck in heels that I always forget about them. I might have to pull mine out!
I do like them, but I don’t have any flat-er ones. I have a higher heeled black pair very similar to the ones you were sporting with your LBD French look – et très chic tu est toi! – only I hardly ever wear them. I’ve seen several in the stores this Spring, but not many being worn. You know here, everyone likes their ‘baskets’ that really aren’t ‘baskets’ at all, but that’s what they call them – a kind of dressy sneaker and of those I’ve quite a few pair.
I have admired oxfords from afar but have yet to buy a pair for myself. I love seeing how you styled them in your post. You’ve given me a little confidence to think I might be able to wear them this Spring.
I want to … I really do! But I haven’t. So man look gunboat-ish on my stumpy frame. But I’ve had my eye on some slimmed down styles that are somewhere between a ballet slipper and a sturdy real brogue. As always, I persevere. You, als always, inform and inspire!
HOW many pairs?! Ha, I don’t own any, brogues are one of those styles I admire on other people, but feel are too flat and androgynous on me. Love seeing how you work them though! xxx
I absolutely love brogues. I have two pair of the flats: one in brown with denim and the other a black cutout. I also own two pairs of high heeled ones, one in brown and one in black. Oh, wait, I forgot about the berry colored mid-heel velvet ones. So, yeah, love them. I wear them with everything — dresses, skirts, pants, jeans. They’re the best shoe invention everrrrrr.
Great styling tips. I’ve always wanted to wear them but just can’t. At 5’4″ with very broad shoulders and large feet, they’re not cute on me. They’re just clunky and unflattering. And it’s a shame because they look so comfy!!
I would just like to have your shoe collection!
Are you trying to make me jealous? Or is that a nice by-product? 😉
I want brogues so badly, but can’t find any to fit in my cheap..er…um…thrift stores!
Maybe I’ll have to bite the bullet and try new. I loove your silver ones. Oh, I do have my morphed brogues/elastic sided booties! Xo Jazzy Jack
I cannot believe how many pairs you’ve got! You put our stockroom to shame.
Great on men and good on girls worn with jeans and tea dresses, neither of which are my style but I like! xxx
I love oxfords (or brogues) and wear mine with pants and dresses. I’d like to get another pair in a solid bright colour for summer (or black and white ones). They can look kind of clunky, especially on my size 10 feet, but fortunately I’m tall enough that I think I can carry them off.
I love oxfords and want lots of them in many colors!! I love to wear them with cuffed jeans and a button up shirt. I really think they look great with a fedora.
I do but they don’t really suit me. I have a low arch which makes my feet look long and awkward when I wear flat shoes. I need a size bigger to fit my support heels but that always makes the shoe look too wide, too big, even though I cannot fit a smaller size. Very difficult. Pity as I do like them a lot. Especially in silver.

Swiss army knife…good quote!!!
Love them too, I am impressed with your stash of my favorite style shoes.
I would wear them more often, But I am wee one,
I did wear a pair recently though, and that made me happy.
Love your soles in the LBD post, fab and unique!

I love the look on others but have struggled finding a pair that fit/are of good quality and don’t make my feet look a much larger/out of proportion. I want that classic stripe look too! Love that shoe color with it too.
I like them…on others…like on you, e.g. You wear them well.
