For the first time ever I decided to enter a blogging contest aimed at Canadian bloggers called the MIB Awards.
Normally I shy away from these kinds of things. For good reason.
I hate losing.
This time I thought I'd just do it for some exposure.
BUT I don't want to be the worst blog out there not getting one single vote.
Which is where I am currently sitting right now.
No joke.

That is seriously awesome (not the lack of votes, that you put yourself out there). I am woefully shy. Not a little shy, but knock-your-socks off shy and as a result far too frequently do not ask for what I want or put myself out there to the degree that I might secretly desire to. In recent months however, I have been pushing myself big time on this front (I just asked someone for something I’d wanted for, no joke, four years yesterday, and got it within 24 hours – now it’s almost hard to believe I ever waited that long!) and determined to become more assertive (in a good way, never in a pushy way of course), braver in this regard, and better able to simply ask for what I want in, and out of, life. I’m proud of you for doing the same here and am off to vote for you right this very minute.

*PS* Thank you very much for your comment on today’s blog post. I’ve had garments that were “tainted” like that because of some offhanded comment someone made about it. Some (garments) I’ve been able make peace with again afterwards, but some had had to move on to a new home, so I really can relate to your situation with the poodle sweater. I truly hope you two are able work things out in the end though, it sounds like a really darling piece.
