I won these sandals just before Christmas from Missguided.
Sexahy right?
My hope was that the heel would be clunky enough to make them comfortable.
Don't ask.
It's just me trying to justify getting some all-be-it "free" shoes that look hot but are completely impractical.
You know, the way you think that wedges should be easy to walk in.
These "clunky" heels…
Guess what?
Not-so-much.
For now they have a space in my shoe collection between the,
"I can wear these perfectly well as long as I remain seated all night long or I am carried atop a plush gold velvet chaise lounge hoisted on the strong shoulders of four six well toned bare chested men"
shoes and my
"I can wear these for exactly 20 minutes as long as I don't have to walk fast, bend down, turn quickly or sneeze," shoes.
I haven't given up all hope of being able to wear these when the weather turns decent again.
Which by my calculations should be mid June…fingers crossed.
I'm still trying to get over this flu that morphed into a chest and sinus infection with asthma. I now have some new meds that I'm hoping will start to make me feel human again.
Would you ever be caught wearing sandals with tights?
Have you ever wanted to attend an estate sale? Come back tomorrow for my series on secondhand shopping where I will give my full low-down on estate sales.

I’m not a fan of chunky heels either. I don’t like a lot of wedges for the same reason – too much weight. (But my new Tom’s booties are fairly light.) But if they’re free…. You could definitely wear them to dinner if all you have to do is walk in, sit down, and cross your legs so everyone can see your sandals. Or is you have those six men to carry you around. 😛
I used to wear sheer pantyhose with sandals when I was a waitress, but I don’t think I’d do it now. However, you rock that look!
Kristian says
I think the tights work because they are heels with a skirt.
Kristina C says
Too bad they’re not very comfortable because they look beautiful. I love the ankle strap and the chunky heel. Have you tried using some type of insert to add some extra cushioning for the bottom of the foot? I hate to admit but I have too many shoes that I can only walk 2 city blocks in myself.
Paula says
I like sandals and tights but with so much wet weather here I dont get an opportunity to wear them. I do LOVE the look of those shoes, tho! Xoxo
Jan Graham-McMillen says
Yes! I do it … gives it’s own vibe, and can work really well visually. As you show. How cute you look. Very French-girl-artista. Tights can cause your foot to slide down into the toe strap, though. Those little cork liners I make for myself work really well here. Properly sized they keep the foot where it belongs without showing.
How do these little cutie-shoes work barefoot?
Happiness at Mid Life says
What a bummer that they are uncomfortable – they are so cute! You can rock anything and make it work…me not so much. I think the tights works with the open toes as long as it doesn’t have the reinforced toe part showing…then it would be a no go.
Hoping the new meds will make you better again. Hope you feel better soon!

Definitely sexay! Love the look!

I have a pair of shoes that I call my “going out for coffee with Erin” shoes — every summer we go out for coffee on a patio and I get to wear my ridiculous shoes! Yours may need a similar occasion!
Lisa - respect the shoes says
Fab shoes! I have footwear like that too, except I measure it by “shoes I can wear to work if I plan to sit at my desk all day” and “shoes I can wear to work if I plan to go out to lunch” and “shoes I can walk in.” The things we do for style …
Debbie says
No, I can’t do the tights with sandals thing…although it does work with those sandals. They are fabulous, too bad they hurt your tootsies! Sorry you still feel yucky. Hopefully the new meds help. Speaking of second hand shopping, you inspired me the other day. I normally don’t go into our Goodwill because honestly our area is not conducive to finding many nice things. But I decided to stop in after reading your post and I did find a couple of things that I picked up…I’m sure they’ll show up on my blog right directly!

I have never done the sandals with tights thing, but that is because I am usually so thrilled to get to wear boots, it is all I want to do. Ever. Those sandals look great with that outfit, though. I would never have thought of pairing them with blue! I love it! You also cannot tell that you are uncomfortable. So, there is that good news!
Great score!

Looking great there!
Finding sexy shoes that are good for walking as well is so hard! Too bad, since heels always look so fab!
And yes, I have worn and would still wear sandal heels with tights; why not?!
Liz says
The whole sandal with tights thing is something I’ve struggled with. I even struggle with heels with cutouts paired with tights. Anthro models do it so well between the months of September and February, and then I try and have to laugh at myself in the mirror. I just don’t think I have the eye for what colors to pair together.
The ones you’re wearing work with the black tights; the look is subtle. Maybe even “safe.” It’s when you get into colored tights and colored shoes that I’m at a loss for what to do. Plus, the sandals and tights thing reminds me of Sophomore year in high school when I wore black chunky platform sandals with black tights and mini skirts all the time, a la Alicia Silverstone. I really don’t want to channel that era of my life. Too much drama; not enough sense.
So sad the shoes aren’t comfy. They’re hot! I’d definitely try for the six beefcakes carrying you around as the best solution because just not wearing them would be a damn shame.

Hi Suzanne!
I pretty well worn everything with everything!
I should wear tights with sandals at the office in the winter, will get talking some more!
I know shoes hey! i have a few like yours that i keep for pic purpose or for going out sometimes –

Thanks for popping by!

I’ve got so many shoes that I can only wear from the car to the restaurant I’m starting to feel guilty. Plus I never just go from the car to the restaurant. There is always somehow more walking involved than I’d planned for. I wish my man-slaves didn’t take up so much room in the car. It is hard to fit 6 bare chested men and a sofa every time we go out.
Suzanne says
They kind of blend in right?
Suzanne says
I do need to try another shoe insert.
Suzanne says
I do need cork liners. Actually I need little pillow liners. LOL
I have a feeling these might work better with bare feet. That is why I haven’t already given them away.
Suzanne says
Starting to feel more human Alice. Thanks : )

Thanks Sarah : )

I love that idea! Now I will just need to go out for coffee about 52 times : )

Glad to hear I’m not alone in this. How I wish I were one of those bloggy gals that says they can only wear 5″ heels otherwise they trip in flats. Mind you, I doubt most of them live anywhere where there is 3-4″ of snow on the ground for 4 months.
Suzanne says
So fun you went into Goodwill! : ) Can’t wait to see what you bought.
Suzanne says
I too love boots : )
Suzanne says
I agree…everyone looks better in heels.
Suzanne says
I’ve come to realize that as long as you match your coloured tights to the shoes you will never go wrong. Well…just don’t go with “nurse” white. That is a big no-no. Otherwise I love tights with shoes and they always elongate my body. I’ve worn both pink and purple at some point in time, but you are right, black is my favourite and by far the safest to make sure I’m not adding visual bulk onto my body.
Suzanne says
The skirt is Anthro : ) bought on sale sometime last year. You would LOVE estate sales Ariane! I’m sure they have them there.
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
Aww shucks. I was hoping you’d say they were comfortable. Unfortunately I knew the answer because I had a pair very similar last summer. Super cute but totally unwearable.
Rachel says
And this is the reason why I own exactly two pairs of heels. I’m such a baby when it comes to painful feet!
carmen says
Love your skirt! The whole look is fabulous!! Beautiful cardigan with tie. WOW girl, you rock this outfit!!
Yes, I sometimes wear tights with sandals but they have to match or blend like you’ve done. However, it’s easier to walk when going without tights, your feet grip the sandals better.
Hope you’ll feel 100% soon and thanks for another fun post to keep us smiling on these bitter cold days!!

I hope the new meds are sending the crud packing!!
I like the new sandals–maybe warmer weather will make them more wearable.
Or you can just get the chaise carried by the half-nekkid well-oiled young men.
THAT sounds like a plan!

Hope you’re feeling better!
The new sandals are so cool and you rock them as you styled your outfit.
Hope the warm weather can make them more wearable… it’s a pity.

Isn’t that sad when shoes turn out to be like that?
Suzanne says
You have control. For some reason when I’m around cute shoes my brains turn to mush and I “forget” that I can’t wear them.
Suzanne says
I do think these might be wearable without the tights. I won’t get rid of them until I’ve tried them like that.
Suzanne says
Thanks Carelia.

Well the meds have helped a bit but I think I’m getting sick AGAIN! Stupid winter. We were out all day yesterday and my feet felt like icicles literally the whole day. I couldn’t get them to warm up. By the end of the day I’d lost my voice. Next year I want to hibernate the whole winter. I’m too fragile for this climate. LOL
