This is another piece that I scored in the extra 25% off already marked down sale price that Anthro had 2 weeks back. I had no idea I was going to like wearing maxi skirts so much. This one really flows when I move. I feel very bohemian in it. Like Stevie Nicks but without the feathers and capes.
Let's talk about how dissatisfied I am having to take my photos inside now. I had envisioned this skirt with me in a field, or in the forest with the changing leaves. Now it's just me the corner of the guestroom.
What do I feel when I see these photos? Yawn, shrug, meh. That about sums it up. Plus there are obvious light issues that I've tried to deal with as best as I can in Photoshop.
At this point I can't see myself freezing my butt off to get some outdoor shots. It's Canada folks. It gets cold here. Granted, not as cold as what people think, especially in Toronto or in BC. We are not living in igloos getting around on snowmobiles or dogsleds. On average we are much warmer than say, Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin or Nebraska. Our temperature is almost on par with New York City. Our winters are not the kind of cold where you can say, "oh I'm going to wear some tights with my boots and a sleeveless furry vest over my skirt". Nope. I'm talking a down filled coat that covers your butt, hood up, woolly scarf and mittens on. I think every year that passes I'm becoming less adaptable to the cold. Sure it's not that cold yet, but we're heading that way …eventually. If we luck out like last year we won't get any snow that stays on the ground for more than a day or two and temperatures won't dip below -5 C or so. I'm not counting on that though.
Today it's only 4 C outside as the high and we had a little interlude of snow/hail/rain mixture while walking Zoe this morning. Granted it didn't stay but I don't want to catch pneumonia trying to get off some decent shots for the blog.Winter on it's own is bad enough, but now I need to think of ways to make my indoor photos better…any ideas?

This is such a great look with so much personality! Thanks for linking up for Real Girl Style!
Your outfit is really beautiful, so many gorgeous blues and some of the colors in the maxi highlight your great red hair. I think your indoor pics turn out way better than mine do, at least you have plenty of light. I did a li’l shivering for some outside shots this a.m. 😛
I love the colors in this outfit.
Your photos are great! I know what you mean though, I hate inside pictures of my own. I do love the maxi and I’ve been loving transitioning them into the cooler temps!
Thanks Amber
Brrrrr…. good for you. I’m a whimp. It is only around 2 C here today…I wore my ski gloves when I took my puppy for a walk.
Thanks : )
I figure that I can wear long johns under this maxi in winter. The only issue would be once it snows, then I wouldn’t want the bottom dragging in the snow. Otherwise I agree that maxis are great for transitioning.
Thanks for stopping by Niki : )
Super cute skirt! I really love the pattern.
I’m hooked on maxi skirts too – I love this one, the multiple prints are lovely and I especially like the way you’ve teamed it with the pretty little jacket.
I hear you about the indoor photos – I really feel the cold and during winter I have no motivation whatsoever to go out in the cold and freeze for an outfit shot! I used to have a corner where I used to take indoor shots and I lost it to a bookshelf! But even when I did manage to do indoor shots I had similiar ambivalent feelings as you do. I think we just have to work with what we can indoors while it’s freezing and get out when it warms up and photograph as much as possible!
Thanks Amanda : )
Sigh…I know you’re right. I need to score some kind of undergarments that I can heat up in the microwave that’ll keep me warm while I take my photos : ) Either that or go on an extended vacation with my closet in tow.
That is an amazing skirt and it looks amazing on you!
Seriously, indoor fashion photo shoots are no fun, but I have no better options when it snows outside! I’m not sure what I’ll do or even what part of my house would be suitable once it gets just a little colder here!
Great outfit!

You styled this skirt well my dear…definitely Stevie Nicks-ish;) Don’t even talk about the declining weather although I must admit we’ve been lucky here in WI but I know it’s comin’.

I do indeed love this maxi skirt! I love the pattern, so bold and fun and what makes it even better is it was on sale!!!! I know what you mean about taking photos in the cold, I personally suffer and take my photos outside though! I have never had any luck with my photos inside!

Seems I’m not the only one with this problem. TFS
I would have loved to have entered the contest…sadly I need to have US shipping address, which I don’t have. So many of the online contests are for the US only.

Wow…okay now I feel like a real whimp. It gets one heck of a lot colder in the Peg than here.

I love the bold and fun pattern on your maxi skirt. Those blue hues with some orange spots matches your hair colour and looks so flattering on your skin Suzanne. Très jolie 🙂
