After being told for years and years that Macs are better especially if you're an artist and working in Photoshop and Illustrator I finally broke down and bought one 2 days ago. It's a very large 27" upgraded version. I'm hopeful that it will last me at least 5 years, although in today's rapidly advancing technology I know that may be pushing it.
I almost didn't buy the computer because of the horrible service at the Apple store. The girl that helped us initially was very young and didn't know a thing about computers. Her mantra was, "I can tell you you'll love it!" That was it. She didn't know anything beyond what you can read online, only that "we will love it". Luckily after regrouping after a coffee with my girlfriend we went back and asked for someone that actually knows something about computers. Some shy geek guy that normally works in the back seemed to know a bit more. That and the fact that I know if in 14 days I don't like it I can take it back for a full refund finally sold me on it.
After going through one very long week of preparing for this new computer it had better live up to all the hype. I had to get rid of one very old computer, transfer data to another semi old computer that I had to format & clean and then reinstall everything. It's an awful process. Thankfully I had my IT dept to help me through it all.
This is my super helpful and motivated IT dept.
That's a sign of "you get what you pay for".
I'm crossing my fingers that once I get Photoshop and Illustrator installed next week I will be happy.
