I’m not one that wants to rush summer out the door. With our long winters, summer is never an unwelcome guest at my house.
That said when September rolls around I am inclined to start looking at the newest fall offerings in the stores. They always have great displays and inspiration to pump up my style imagination.
Something about the tradition of going back school and buying some new clothes for the first day has stuck with me.
Every September I buy myself something special. (Like I need an excuse!)
These are some of the items I’ve been eyeing up lately.
Favourite Fall Picks

Anything here that excites you?
I’m lusting after patterned silk bomber jackets and velvet booties right now. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen some there recently.
Do you often feel the pull of buying something new and fabulous for your wardrobe in September?
🙂 Me too – I enjoy going to the stores once the fall collection is displayed and lust over corduroy and plaid skirts, big wool sweaters and anything that ‘ll keep me cozy when it gets cold outside.
Dress no. 1 is my favorite.
Hello from Vienna and have a very HAPPY day xo 🙂
Yes, I love browsing the new Autumn collections. This year I’m craving velvet, brocade, and a denim midi dress. Let the hunt begin! X
I think a denim midi dress sounds divine for this time of year!
The velvet and brocade are high on my list as well. I’m a bit crazy about the whole Gucci chic craze.
I’m definitely not ready for summer to go. But there’s always such an excitement about September, and I think it’s my favorite month of the year. And this September, I get to go to Paris! My husband has given me a trip, and we leave in two weeks. I’m having a bit of a crisis about what to pack – thoughts?
Lucky you! I’m so jealous! What a great time to visit Paris.
Normally Paris weather at this time of the year can be a pain in the butt, rain, cool or steamy and hot. I see today there it is supposed to be 37 C!!! Yikes!!! I hope the weather is more conducive to walking when you are there. Also, be advised, most hotels do not have air conditioning in Paris. When it is that hot, it might be a good idea to ensure the place you are staying at has some kind of air conditioning or fan in your room.
I would suggest you check the weather forecast regularly and then try to pack the day before.
Good walking shoes, an umbrella and a light jacket are a must. One chic scarf and an easy-to-wear sundress would be other options I’d consider. I know for myself, I’d be apt to take a couple of comfortable sun dresses.
Take lots of photos and have a wonderful time! I know you will : )
In almost 7 years of blogging I clicked on a link for a brand new item of clothing – those metallic boots! Wow. I love them but what a price – ouch! I’ve flown to India for less! xxx
Yes, Anthro has great footwear but I very rarely ever buy them due to the high cost.
YES!
And this year it is velvet.
Velvet boots…velvet coats..velvet anything.
One small problem…
Scottish rain!!!
Curses.

I think I bought 5 velvet blazers last year.
In my latest thrifting scores I’m all over the suede, especially midi length. Suede would not be a happy camper in Scotland.
I did just thrift a tweed pleated skirt from Scotland. It is fantastic and reminds me when I lived there how often people wore Tweeds.
Ooooh…that Garnish your reputation dress would be perfect for high tea. Or date night. or grocery shopping.
I seem to find any excuse to buy myself something—it’s a problem—at least admittance is the first step.
But velvet—now that’s something I don’t have in my closet—-hmmmmmm

WHAT??? I’m shocked! SHOCKED to learn you have no velvet in your wardrobe! You’ll need to remedy that asap.
You’re absolutely right—I should have my fashion blog badge temporarily suspended—ha ha!! But don’t worry, I’m a master at shopping, so it’ll be fixed in no time!!! 🙂
Yes, the fall floral bomber – so so cool! And, anything velvet. Some great picks Suzanne.

I hear ya girl friend, September always as a shopping spot in my heart. I spent way too many years teaching to let it go . . . and the very best part of beginning a new school year was starting the first week off with a new wardrobe. What’s my excuse now??? I did take Miss Molly back to school shopping today since she’s staring preschool in a few weeks and I’ve taught her well, she absolutely enjoyed trying on every single item and then just kept on repeating, Oh, I love it, I need this! Haha, I’m in trouble . . .
I’m seriously loving those new leather messenger bags and this one is fabulous! Let me know what items you decide to begin school in.
Oooh you are training Miss Molly well! You may have created a monster! LOL
Be still my heart…that pink bomber jacket!!!

Fall is definitely one of my favourite times to shop, (new, or thrifted) because of the coats, jackets, etc. I’m happy to see this hot and humid summer heading out so I can start wearing real clothes and shoes again. If only Fall was longer, and Winter was shorter….
Crazy about your boot selection, and I love the print dress! Great choices,
Yes, the first nip of cool in the air, and i start to shop , or enticing store window…

The pink bomber jacket – yes, I think it belongs in my closet. Heh.
I loved back to school shopping, but even more than the clothes, I loved getting new notebooks and pens and coloured pencils. Weird, right? I loooved clothes, but stationary beat them all.
That is one thing that I really like when summer is at its end : find out the new collections and prepare my wish list!!!
Your picks remind me that I need a new pair of boots!!
