I may be handing over some big bucks for a new computer today. Last week on my work computer my screen started flickering and shut down the computer.
As the Apple Genius Bar is always busy I’ve been without my main work computer for a week. Yes, I have this little laptop which is good for reading or writing but all of my photos are stored on the other computer.
I managed to snag these photos before the screen went blank and the whole thing shut down again.
One Vintage Dress Two Contemporary Looks
This 1980s faux suede vintage dress is for sale in my Etsy shop but I thought I’d have a bit of fun with it and show off its versatility before someone else takes it home to love.
Here I am singing out the virtues of wearing vintage clothing.
Yeah this is an easy peezy dress to update because it looks like a vest and is designed for layering.
These neon yellow boot socks are still one of the easiest ways to update a look without breaking a sweat.
Plus they are like wearing sunshine on my feet. Who doesn’t want that?
Which look do you prefer?
How would you style this dress?
Here are some other vintage pieces I’ve styled contemporary in the past, vintage handbags, vintage dress 1 and 2, vintage blouse, vintage skirt.
Linking up with the lovely Patti over at Visible Monday.
You’re so right about those boots – they raise the temperature on everything! Love both looks, but the menswear is my personal favorite. You wear a tie beautifully! xox

Ties have been a favourite of mine since the 80’s.
Love the second photo! You embrace life and reflect its joys. One of the many reasons we love you. The sunny socks are superb. Good luck with transitioning to a new computer.
Thanks! I think I’m gong to need some luck. There is always a bit of a learning curve on a new computer.
I think the menswear wins it for me. Something about that check!
But the real winner is the wall. It is trying to upstage you my dear!!
Of course those boots are stunning and are doing a great job trying to keep up with your sunny smile.
All in all a great job with rescued photos and a dead computer.

Yeah! Ha ha! The wall : ) I do love it though as it is in my bedroom and wonderful to look at when I’m stretching out at night.
How can you pick a favorite?? They are both so fabulous, and really, all I can concentrate on are those boots. I need me some of those-ASAP!!!
XOXO

Being a sucker for a pussy bow blouse, my favourite is definitely that one. And your yellow boots have just brightened up my day, so that you for that! Good luck with the new computer, I am so dreading the day mine breaks down … xxx
I’m still waiting for my new computer. Another week apparently…not fun.
Oh No – I hope you get your computer back soon, all fixed and ready to go. I like the colour of this vest-dress, and the yellow sock boots add a great KAPOW of colour.
I like all the various stylings you’ve come up with for this dress, but even more, I love the different expressions – SING OUT SUZANNE!
Ha! Yes well I often do weird and crazy things between photos just to help relax my face and annoy Zoë. Ha ha!
The computer is going to be another week. I had to buy a new one. The graphics card was toast in the old one and it is considered too old to repair. The tech industry’s business plan is to force us into buying new products every five years. It is ridiculous!
Ah you have bought the yellow ones too! Fabulous! I love the one with the men s tie the best!
On my post this week there’s a question you would easily answer – you do your share by wearing vintage clothes – not to help the world, because you love it, OK. But anyway, it helps the world 🙂 I love vintage clothes, too, and I loved this dress like a vest, very good for layering, you are right. The yellow boots are also fantastic, like sun on the feet 🙂 I prefer the look with the white shirt, it makes the color of the dress pop! Hope you have a nice day, dear Suzanne!

🙂 OMG – the shoes, booties or whatever you call those yellow things.
If they were in purple or red, I’d buy them right away. But yellow isn’t really “my” color.
Have a very HAPPY day, dear Suzanne!
xo 🙂 Claudia 🙂
They have them in red too Claudia! Not that I’m huge on selling you some boots from Zara…but from one blogger to another I bought the red ones too.
Love it with the tie, I would not have thought of that and it is such a fun twist.
I got my package today, thanks ! My blog is down for a couple of days as I switch back form Squarespace to WordPress. Sorry about your computer..that is frustrating..

I hope you love the dress! I can’t wait to see how you style it : )
I do! I opened it today. I can’t wait to wear it, it looks like it will fit well!
Many thanks !

This is one of my favorite looks EVER Suzanne!!! I would never have thought that a little green vintage jumper could be so darn cute. These shots are magazine worthy!!! Your styling is wonderful and that floral wall was a genius idea.
I think I like the mens wear look best. I just purchased a tie and I’m giving you and Anna (Island Style) credit for inspiring that move. I used to wear them many years ago and they’re a fun accessory!
I’m pretty sad that I won’t be seeing you in Seattle. Maybe I said that in my last comment but what the heck! It bears repeating!!
Ties are super fun. I’m lucky since my husband has a rather large collection that I can borrow from.
I’m super disappointed I won’t be seeing you in Seattle. Everything just fell apart this year and I wound up having to cancel last minute. : ( Such a drag.
Oh no, what a pain about the computer, I hope you get it sorted without having to spend serious cash.
Love both of the ways you’ve worn that pinafore dress, I’m leaning towards the pussybow outfit ‘cos I do love them but your joyful expressions and that glorious wall behind you take both to another level.
Those yellow boots really do look brilliant with everything, I really need some Vix-style ones with a rounded toe, maybe I’ll find some in 7 years time! xxx
PS I’ll get back to you with measurements on that maxi later today, I’m off on another shopping trip!
Oooh! Another shopping trip! : P. What wonderful treasures will you find today?
I had to buy a new computer : (. No fixing the six year old, now referred to as obsolete computer. Just ridiculous. Bye bye winter vacation.
I prefer the outfit with the tie. Looks better in my humble view. And it sucks that you have to buy a new computer. Forking out money only to replace something which was already there.. sucks. My English vocabulary is small.

Ha ha! I couldn’t have chosen a better word than sucks. On top of that I’m still waiting for the darn thing to be delivered. I couldn’t even get one at the store. Ridiculous.
