Layering Your Boho Style

I went a bit wild on the layering of necklaces here. Sadly you can't see it too well since my lame photography skills were exceptionally poor that afternoon. I blame it on the 2 martini lunch breakfast. Olives are a healthy morning food choice right?
Don't tell me.
It'll be akin to learning the truth about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
Sometimes in life it is better remain oblivious and happy.

Than knowledgeable and sad sober.
Joking!
Mostly…
Back to the masses of layered jewellery…
I'm wearing almost as much jewellery as Vix wears when she goes to bed.

The weather has cooled off quite a bit and I'm finding layering this kimono over jeggings the perfect solution.

I wore this out today but switched the sandals for closed toed booties.
Blah blah blah
boring
boring
yawn.
Okay something fabulous did happen today! I had to run and answer the door this morning dressed only in my oven mitts pink fuzzy French poodle robe (don't ask…they didn't have a pug robe, obviously) because a strange man that I didn't know (as opposed to a strange man that I do know) delivered these…

And it's not my birthday or anything!
Isn't that the best?
Shout out to this guy…

For being so damn sweet and thoughtful while he is away.
I love you baby!
Awwwwww…..
When was the last time someone surprised you with something lovely and unexpected?

Pencil Me In – The Power I Feel In A Pencil Skirt
I know there are some of you that really dislike pencil skirts…(ahem Vix) but they have to be my favourite type of skirt, right next to maxis.

Skirt – Dorothy Perkins, Shoes – Nine West, Top – H&M, Bag – Vintage, Belt – small boutique
I already wrote about my love of vintage pencil skirts and how to wear them.

I don't work in an office. There is no real need for any pencil skirts in my wardrobe. Or any type of skirt for that matter.
If I'm being totally honest.

But if I'm going to go that far there is no need for clothes period. Just a loin cloth bikini and a bear skin to throw over my shoulders in winter.

and some fuzzy ankle warmers…
or are those shoes?
either way I can feel myself shivering already.

I read recently that our clothes are considered our personal armour.
Every day we choose how we want to be viewed through the eyes of the critical world around us through our clothing.

When I wear a pencil skirt I want to be viewed as someone who isn't ready to be put out to pasture yet. Someone that is creative, vibrant and wants to be noticed. I may be over 40 but I still want to be seen as a sexual being. I don't want to fade into the woodwork, buried alive in a bucket of over sized beige caftans and sensible shoes. I don't want to layer myself into oblivion losing any sense of feminine shape in the process.
I feel powerful in a pencil skirt. Like an ombre haired short plump version of Wonder Woman.

And sure…I'll admit, that one day I'll wake up and say,
"Suzanne darling, you simply cannot pull it off anymore."
And on that day I will feel sad and break a little tiny bit inside.
But for now, let me have my pencil skirts and my power.
Do you have any clothes that make you feel powerful? Why do you think they make you feel that way?
