Big Baby

Okay I will admit it. I am a big huge baby when it comes to going to the dentist. I abhor getting anything done on my teeth. I have crazy sensitive teeth, partially due to the fact that I grind the crap out of them each and every night. I have worn a night guard for maybe 20 years now and need to have a new one made every year because I grind massive holes in them.
I should mention that it also bothers me to have my mouth open for long periods of time, or rather it actually makes me physically nauseous when I have my mouth open too long. After any dental appointment I basically need the rest of the day to recover, usually wrapped up in blankies with a heating pad on and then I can be overheard whimpering, "tell my Mom I'm sick!"
I'm telling you this because for last 3 months or so I've known I need to get one of my fillings replaced. I've been putting it off forever. Before it was just hot and cold that bothered it. So…for 3 months I haven't been chewing much on that side of my mouth. Now though, I noticed that if I eat anything sweet (WTF?) it is killing me. I can understand something acidic bothering it, but now sweet stuff too? Not cool. I've been known to indulge in some dark chocolate every day now and then. I've been managing. It's not easy, I don't benefit from the full orgasmic mouth sensation that those little dark pieces of chocolate provide. I've been making due only having the chocolate squished into one little area on the side of my mouth, cause I really do not want to go and see that sadist dentist.
Today I have a brand new pain…on the other side of my mouth, close to the front, where you bite. This new pain is hurting quite a bit. Enough that I don't want to eat. So now unless I want to start blending my food and sucking it through a straw I need to see my dentist. I'm pretty much sick already just thinking about it. I just made the appointment for tomorrow afternoon so I can't fret more than a day about it.
I know you didn't need to hear a story about my sensitive teeth that I basically inherited from my Dad (thanks Dad!) but you know what…these stories make you aware when you don't have the pain to appreciate it. Go ahead… have yourself a good ol' piece of chocolate. Let it sit in your mouth till it starts melting, then gently swirl it around your tongue, enjoy it, revel in it and be thankful.
Hang on, I wonder if I'm doing the right thing here. I mean I could actually use this as an opportunity to finally achieve my goal weight. It's a wonder people haven't developed this as a diet plan, all pain, no gain!
Ah…I guess I'll still go and see what Dr. Pain Gabay says. Wish me luck!
Wardrobe Foundations – 10 Basics Everyone Needs
Building a good wardrobe is all about having strong foundations. In this weekly series I will take you through the steps of building the wardrobe that will work for your life. You won't need to break the bank to make it work. These are practical simple clothing pieces that can be bought at any Winners/ TJ Maxx, Forever 21, H&M, thrift or consignment store.
#1 JEANS
We'll start with the most obvious piece (aside from underwear). To me that is a well fitted pair of dark wash denim. No bells and whistles, no distressing, no whiskers or patches, no studs or sequins. Plain jane 4 or 5 pocket straight or wide leg jeans with a medium rise. You can wear them dressy or casual.
If you have slim hips and thighs go for straight legged. If you are a bit curvy aim for "straight down from the hip", not as in you're "shooting straight from the hip", but rather the jeans go straight to the ground from your hips creating one lean long line.

These 2 pairs happen to be Levis, and no I'm not getting paid to endorse them. The fact is that they could be any brand of jeans, so long as they fit you well. The better the fit, the more expensive they will look on you. Try to avoid "crotch sag" or "butt bag" and definitely stay far away from "sausage rolls" when the jeans are too tight and your legs look like they are squeezed into sausage casings.
I like jeans that have lycra in them. They keep their shape better and allow you to feel more comfortable when you move.
From the front the jeans should sit flat, the crotch should be where you real crotch is and in the back you should have a nice crease under your butt.
I know it's an absolute nightmare trying to find a great pair of jeans. They can be like finding a good husband/boyfriend, you might need to try on quite a few pairs before you find the perfect one.
Before you go shopping for these jeans… shop when you're in a good mood (not when you are bloated or PMS-ing), be patient, I promise once you find that perfect pair they will be worth it and (barring weight gain or loss) will last for a lifetime. Take someone shopping with you that will give you an honest opinion (forget the salespeople they will tell you look like Rhianna when in fact you look like Honey Boo Boos Momma on a bad day).
A bad pair of jeans will make you cry and feel horrible about yourself, a great pair of jeans will make you feel like you can concur the world. So don't give up…there are great jeans out there for everyone and they are my first item in your 10 basic wardrobe foundations.
