How can it possibly be 20 years?
We didn't have a church wedding. I didn't even have a wedding "dress" until a full 2 months after we were already married. These photos are from that reception.
For our wedding day we eloped. Robert wore a navy suit jacket that looks like it was 2 sizes too large for him and I wore my sister's graduation dress.
Our wedding wasn't about the dress, the flowers or the people we were going to invite. It was about us taking a final step, growing up and into ourselves. It was about two carefee passionate spirits who met in a bar in France 8 months earlier who were ready and willing to take a chance on committed eternal love. It was about holding each other and feeling safe in the knowledge that there would be no hesitation, if we reached out the other would be there, arms open, heart open, forever. 20 years later and I still feel I made the right choice.
Love you mon amour!

Sour Cream Choc Cake

My girlfriend is coming by for lunch on Thursday so I decided to treat us to an old style chocolate sour cream cake. I still remember with great fondness the ones my Great Grandma made on the farm. So moist and delicious! I haven't made this recipe in a very long time so I hope it's good. It's not my Grandma's recipe…I need to try to find that one. This is one I tore out of a magazine a long time ago. Even the icing is made with sour cream. I used low fat sour cream, I know it's not what my Great Grandma would have used, everything was full fat, but I need to think of my waistline as well as satisfying a childhood craving.
Unfortunately the chocolate was too small to curl so it's just shaved on the top.
Do you have any favorite childhood memories of a special cake?
