ARGGGGHHHH!&*%$$#@#@….. YES!

January 12, 2007 by suzanne carillo

I HATE my computer!!!!! Is it weird to have an abnormal hatred towards an inanimate object? If any of you saw the movie Office Space they take a baseball bat and stomp and beat the crap out of the office photocopier…today my computer is breathing a sigh of relief I don’t own a baseball bat…YES…it was SOOOOO close!

Yes today was my shipping deadline. Yes I had to make updates and changes to a PDF catalog and Word file, burn Cd’s, collate and package all flyers and press kits. Yes my computer froze repeatedly between programs and then simply would not shut off. Yes after waiting staring at the frozen screen for 30 agonizing minutes the only way it would turn off was to cut the electricity. Yes the UPS man showed up 30 minutes early. Yes the dog was frantic, the bird was making noise, the boxes weren’t ready, it was taking WAY too long to try to burn Cd’s for the darn press kits and yes I thought I was going to blow up…just sitting there urging…willing even begging my computer "please, please I promise to defrag you every week…I’ll upgrade your RAM…I’ll be so nice if you’d just GO FASTER!!!!! move your BUTT!!!!!! I have a DEADLINE you stupid piece of %$^&#**!!!!!

Yes I told the UPS man to go away and come back later. Yes I wanted to eat a whole chocolate bar not the regular kind, the kind you buy in the baking aisle at the grocery store that looks like it could feed a small country, and then maybe wash it down with a full bag of family size chips and a container of full fat dip. Yes I wanted to give up and just collapse in front of the TV and watch What Not To Wear. Yes it’s 6 pm and I haven’t had a shower, brushed my teeth or run a comb through my hair.

Yes this is the freedom of having your own business. You can be your own "yes man".

FREAKIN’ HOT!!!!

January 10, 2007 by suzanne carillo

Fairywizard Okay…I’m a little bit excited…I just got back from the printer’s and picked up my first trimmed samples of the new lines and they are SO SO SO COOL!!!! I know I know, seems like I’m conceited when I’m the artist that made them but they are without a doubt the best I have ever done. I wish I had time to finish several other lines I was working on since I can now see that they are going to be just as awesome…CHA summer : ) .

I included this layout since I’m thrilled how it turned out. This is from the line Fête. My favorite line is still Sync though. It’s the most modern of all.

Seems like the colors this time are more vivid and fresh and everything looks really high energy. I’m so happy :  P  I could go back and hug that pressman!

On Monday all day I was proofing on press. The run is so large with so many different designs I had to stay there most of the day. It’s always a bit weird when you look at the product on press as compared to when it’s trimmed down and in your hands. They are printed on very large sheets, 6 designs up, and the back and fronts are printed at the same time.

I am swamped with getting ready for the CHA show…ready to tackle the oh-so-fun job of press kits…(…yawn ) tomorrow. I don’t even want to look at all the other stuff still on the list of things that need to be done. Coming from Canada my shipping deadline is Friday, so anything I need down there either comes with me in my bags or ships Friday. Used to be I could lug tons of stuff with me on the plane, but now they have cut back and we’re only allowed a measly 50 lbs. I’ll have a bag with just my shoes in it that weighs that much! LOL  So that’s why I’m stressed about meeting this shipping deadline. It’s either that or no cool shoes…don’t even go there! I’m not getting stuck in the same position I was in last year when the press comes around and takes a bunch of photos and I’m there looking like some frumpy fartso pizza delivery bum. Nope this year I plan on being prepared. I’m not saying anymore…you’ll just have to come and see for yourselves.

These past few days I have been working like mad updating our online catalog so you can now see all the products.

We won’t have the chipboard until early Feb so all orders won’t ship now until mid Feb. I noticed one thing with the web updates…some of the colors looked a bit washed out when I converted into Image Ready to load them onto the web. The finished products are the most vivid and clear we’ve ever done, so keep that in mind when you’re viewing the pics. It seems to me some of the layout colors look better than the sample pages.

Hope everyone is gettin’ pumped for the show!
