Remember how I told you I scored a bunch of designer gowns at an estate sale a few weeks back? This red and black sequined vintage Canadian designer gown is one of them.
I need to take it in a bit and do a little bit of work on some of the sequins but otherwise…quite the dress no?
I paid $10 for it but then the dry-cleaning cost me a whopping $50.
I've decided that this dress deserves to be worn to a red carpet event.
Which means I must force someone to host a great Oscars party and then invite me to it.
We stopped our cable here last year, otherwise I'd host.
Not pointing any fingers girlfriend, but that means you Hazel.
I can see it all now…
Fabric flower brooch handmade by me.
You will roll out the red carpet bath mat for me as hundreds of adoring fans one psycho Chihuahua runs to greet me.
Excited TV presenters Fiona (the chihuahua) will be lining up begging for interviews bacon treats.
I will make my way through to my front row seat the kitchen next to George Clooney the bedroom and ask my personal assistant friend to get me a double vodka martini extra dry with three olives a glass of hot water.
It'll really be a night to remember retire early.
All I care is that I get to wear this dress.
Make it happen girlfriend!
Make my dress live out its dream : )
Do your clothes have any dreams?

My dear … you are absolutely stunning! That dress was meant for YOU!
You are so right…it is red carpet ready! Stunning and the fit…wow!
Even at $60 total this dress is FANTASTIC!!! And you look better than half of the stars who PAID someone to dress them walking down the red carpet.
And no pug with the chihuhua??
Hoowah! $10??? The $50 dry cleaning was totally worth it – you look utterly sensational! Bargain of the century. What a dress, and the shoes, the hair, the lipstick, the earrings! I hope you went out on the town looking like this after this photo, and yeah Hazel, you have to make this red carpet event happen. If not maybe we should just host a cyber red carpet event between us all and get all our gowns with dreams out on a regular basis – lord knows I have plenty of them!
Wow this dress looks fantastic on you, so worth the money. Great color and it fits like a glove. You look like a star, worthy of an award! I’ve got a lot of clothes that I would love to wear walking down the streets of Paris some day!
blue hue wonderland
WOW! The dress fits you like a kid leather glove. You look gorgeous! Now go crash a black tie wedding at the classiest hotel in Toronto!
The dress, and you are totally stunning. You can come to our Oscar party, but we’ll be in jeans, and you will be — a goddess! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
Gorgeous! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Ohhhhh Suzanne, You look Gorgeous!!!I have no words to describe it really!!!Like a true movie star!!!
That dress is stunning! You look amazing.
Yes, I have a few dresses that have big dreams, although they’re not as elegant as yours! My silk tartan dress patiently awaits that perfect Christmas tree-trimming party and my cocktail dress hopes to be worn for a swanky cocktail hour. That dress fits you beautifully and I love the fringe detail at the shoulders.
What a gorgeous dress on you – the fit is perfection!
I think you need to host your own Oscar party for you and your friends and require that everyone glam it up so you can show off your fab gown!
Whoa! This is s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g!!! A piece like this (worth the dry clean cost and a million more) is an asset in a closet. You’ll never know when you need it! Really pretty and for the sake of this dress somebody should organize a party indeed!

I’m speechless, are you sure you didn’t have this dress made just for you? This is one phenomenal dress and so stunning one you. I certainly hope Hazel is hearing you loud and clear and getting that party ready for you.
What a stunning dress on you. Not sure how it looked before but it fits you like a glove now. I love the statement earrings and the red lips. You are ready for Hollywood! Come and visit my friend 🙂

You look beautiful. That dress was made for you. The only dreams my clothes have these days are those of days gone by when the waist band was a 26 and not a 36 LOL xoxoxo
That’s a dress and a half! Gorgeous, and gorgeous on you! I think you should just show up at the Oscars like that and see what happens. You look like you belong on that red carpet!
First word that came to me was STUNNING!!! But I see that it’s been used several times!!
OO la la girl, you look like a movie star or ready for the Catwalk!! Hair, makeup, jewellery, purse and shoes – gorgeous!! Love the flower brooch you made!
I bought a red dress for half price $150 (originally $300) so $60 is a bargain. I’ve only worn it twice, I will wear it again for Valentine’s Day.
Hope you go somewhere special!
♥ carmen
Wow what a great gown, it’s totally red carpet and looks stunning on you! The black and red complement your hair colour perfectly too.
That’s the most beautiful dress EVER! And so worth the hefty dry cleaning bill. You look every inch the movie star, red carpet ready, and an award winner for sure! Just gorgeous – hope your dreamy dress gets to party! xxx
Sleek & gorgeous!!! 😉

Wow!!! Gorgeous. A dress like that ought to have big dreams. I recently walked into some kind of ultra-formal dress store and was trying to imagine perfect events to wear all the dresses to….
What an unbelievable dress! Gorgeous! And so are you in it! Fab hair as well. Really, really spectacular.
Shut your mouth. $10 AND it fits you like that?!!! Ridiculous. I am green with envy. Best. Score. EVAH.
What an amazing score! That dress looks made for you and equally made for a red carpet event. While you’re joking, I would, in all seriousness, dress up to watch an awards ceremony at my house. Please don’t pity me. I’ll be so happy and in my (delusional) element. haha
When I was in high school, I would go to this resale shop downtown every week. There was a little room in the back that transported me to eras past. It was a dressing room with vintage dresses, jewelry, handbags, etc. I would spent an hour every week trying on different outfits and pretending I was these women from the past who wore these dresses to dinner parties and special events.
Isn’t fun to imagine who wore that dress and to where? And for whoever chances upon it years down the road will wonder who you were and where you wore it. I doubt they’ll guess a bath mat event with your precious pup.

What a fun post in every way! Your dress, with you in it, is absolutely stunning and deserves a red carpet debut. I do have a dress that makes me dream…it’s a vintage black dress with beadwork on the boat neck. I got it for $1.75 and it fit me like a glove! I feel like a princess in it (whenever I’m small enough to wear it, that is). It falls into the “meant to be” category…just like this beauty for you!
$10? this is a major score! You did not mention the name of the Cdn designer?
Love all the details, it’s a beauty Suzanne! Tks this beautiful dress made my day!
Ariane
Amazing dress!!!!!!! You look absolutly stunning!!!
Thank you so much for linking with Très Chic Style Bits.

Oh WOOOOOOW that is AMAAAAAZING. Perfect for you and I love the fringy cap sleeves. SO stunning!
You look STUNNING in that dress!
So, SO very gorg! Who is the Canadian designer? You look like a movie star. You must take that dress out! Xo
That would be a blast to have a cyber event. The only bit that would be hard is the huge time differences.
Well I would be at my girlfriend’s house, so my pug would stay home and man the fort : )
That is a goal you should definately be able to achieve.
Yeah…I could be the crazy Aunt! : ) I’m pretty darn good at that already.
I so would Lisa, but we got rid of cable here last year. Now I literally get NOTHING on the TV. If we want to watch we need to download online.
Do you think we could scam our way in? : )
I never even thought about wearing this for Valentine’s Day! LOL Great idea. I’ll wear it for “our” Valentine’s Day which is 2 days after, our “when we first met” anniversary.
Well you and this dress look more stunning and full of personality than many of the gowns we’ve seen this award season, so- totally worth it.
Good lord woman! Could you be more smokin’ hot?! And that hair…it was just begging for a dress like that!

The Canadian Designer is Original Fashion Preferred Styled by Jack Leibman. Have you heard of him? I saw 2 other dresses on Etsy by the same label that were between $275-$350.
Precious…
Wonderful dress, especially on you! Better post … just made my day. You look completely ready for the red carpet. Good idea for the Oscar’s party, especially the part where you talk someone else into hosting it! Not only beautiful, but smart.
Great hair, too!!!!
I’m hosting an Oscars party right now if you can get over. Actually, it’s a Grammys party. Or an AACTA (Aussie actors awards). Whatever. When you arrive in that dress it will be a party!!! Awesome.
Oh my goodness Suzanne… This dress is exquisite. If I had your body, your arms and cleavage, this would be my dream dress. Now I need to cover up more and I have not got enough curves to fill the dress up. But what a beauty, what a dream dress. You sure have to find a venue to go to in this dress. You will meet women mostly dressed in black so you will stand out even more. As you should. In order for everybody to see and admire you.
