Do you remember this Polyvore set I created?
I sold myself on the absolute necessity for a simple black jumpsuit in my wardrobe. Curse you Polyvore!
This black jumpsuit is made out of stretch polyester and weighs quite a bit. A cotton jersey would have been a much better choice for the fabric. Beggars and non-sewers can’t be choosers though so I bought it anyhow (on sale).
I altered this jumpsuit by taking it in drastically on the top and then ruching the shoulders a bit to open up the neckline.
You can see in these shots the first time I wore it and styled it with the brown how the neckline was too closed for my tastes. It made me look shorter.
Finally I styled it like this…
I think we have a winner.
It can only be warn on cooler days though and when I don’t need to move too fast, otherwise this kimono catches on everything within a three foot radius.
What do you think about the idea of a black jumpsuit? Could you see yourself wearing one?

I love this jumpsuit! I want to make myself one to fit my tallness. All I need is time! The necklaces create a great line.

I can’t wait to see your hand sewn one!
I have a strapless black jumpsuit that I’ve had for ages. I recently wore it for date night and was trying to figure out how to wear it more casually. I will need to borrow your kimono look, I love it!!

Would love for you to stop by & join TBT Fashion link up.
Have you ever worn it on the blog? I think you’d look amazing in it.
Not yet, I am not sure I like how I look in it. I am going to wear it tis weekend like how you did with a kimono and see if I like it better.
Alice
I like the last style with kimono.
Thanks for popping by : )
Stunning look! Love the jumpsuit. Yes, I could see myself wearing one. I actually have one, but it’s in a more casual style and the legs come to mid calf. The only bad thing about a jumpsuit is going to the bathroom.
Agreed. You need to schedule in some extra time for that.
Now, see….??? That’s what I meant. There are so many other type of clothes than culottes which suit you so fine. Love you in jumpsuits and this one is very chic. I didn’t mind it at all when it was closed a bit higher up, but I agree it is even a bit better with more V-neck.
Those wedges are dreamy. I would love to have them. Darned (I altered this), I am not going to order abroad but what a shame. And the kimono is nice but it demands all the attention. Away from that elegant jumpsuit. Personal taste, you know, just personal taste.

I agree that sometimes a simple chic look like the jumpsuit without anything is what I like. That was what drew me to it in the first place.
When I put on the kimono and hat though it started to feel more artsy, and you know that is kind of my thing.
The shoes are kinda, wow. I just can’t walk forever in them, even if they are wedges.
Keep the jumpsuit – looks gorgeous on you and so right to change the neckline. I can’t get on with jumpsuits. I like the idea but then there’s the faff of getting in and out of them and they always look better on other people than on me so I just sit and admire from a distance – in this case a very long distance across the pond!
I’ll take the wedges and white necklace though please. You don’t need them. I’m being totally *cough* honest here. Really, no listen, they do nothing for you, nada, zilch. I can give them a loving home here in the UK. Please send immediately. Merci beaucoup.
LOL
Great styling! I’ve been taking a second look at jumpsuits lately…
Stellar! O ye of no sewing skills, you certainly did a fine job of tweaking this number. And I love the kimono thingy with it, especially the dingle ball sleeve edging. And the shoes too. Of course you shouldn’t move quickly in this to give everyone you walk by a chance to admire you adequately.
Note to self: Slow down so people have a better chance of admiring you. LOL That is probably why I like to move faster. I’m just a blur and no one can see all the bits that need to be blurred.
You have mad alterations skillz! This is a wonderful basic, with personality of its own, Oh yes, I would wear it (and will wear it if you don’t lock your doors). xox
There you go again, looking all gorgeous in a black jumpsuit and kimono :)! If I could find one that fit properly, I’d buy it in a second. I have NO sewing skills so it has to be just right at the store….sigh.
I’ve heard lots of tall ladies like yourself say that finding a jumpsuit is hard for them. You might need to shop in a tall gal store.
I like all of the stylings! You look ready to go to Studio 54 and attract rock stars. xoxo
How do you always know my plans?
adore the chunky bracelets & that kimono! (:

Thanks for popping by Carsla : )
I love a black jumpsuit, and have one in my closet. So I really appreciate this beauty that you altered to perfection. How wonderful that you can make this adjustment yourself! The kimono adds a beautiful splash of color and of course your summer hat has me swooning. Thank you for sharing it all with Hat Attack!
Smart styling. You’ve got the touch. I’ve always wanted to wear a jumpsuit but never found one. *sad face*
Keep looking! and turn that frown upsidedown : )
I have a black jumpsuit that is made of a heavy stretch polyester blend, and it’s a real pain to get on and off, so I can only wear it for a couple of hours at a time, when I know I’m not going to have to go to the bathroom. It has a big drapey cowl neck and a cutout in the back so I feel rather sexy when I wear it which is why it’s still in my closet! You did a good job making small adjustments in the fit of yours, and it looks fab with the kimono-style wrap!
This one thankfully is quite easy to get on and off, no zippers or buttons. It does require a bit of dexterity since I altered it to be a bit tighter.
Girl…you are seriously rocking that black jumpsuit!
Darlene
Love the jumpsuit! Beautiful textures at the bodice.

You are a fountain of ideas! Love all your stylings, especially the natural/brown/wood colors with this jumpsuit. The kimono looks great too! I actually wore my black jumpsuit (very similar to yours) with one of my Russian shawls here – similarly to you – here: http://inthewriterscloset.blogspot.com/2014/10/one-dark-ooky-night.html. xxx
Wow! I does look like we are wearing the same jumpsuit! : ) You have great taste ; )
“IT does” of course : )
Thats HAWT for sure.. so cute. You totally suit this jumpsuit….love
It looks fab on you. I could surely see myself wearing one, but I don’t think I will be looking out for one. I’m fine without a jumpsuit, I guess.
You need to stop with the jumpsuits…I’m really starting to want one and I blame you…lol! I have picked up two rompers (which is such a dumb word…they’re more like starter jumpsuits) so I imagine a jumpsuit isn’t far behind…
I so love this with the kimono, but of course I would! And those shoes are fierce my friend.

They are starter jumpsuits! LOL
I like all these takes on a jumpsuit. Also, I really appreciate your eye for details- like telling how a neckline can make you appear shorter. You really prove how the small details affect a look and also to change things.
Love it! I haven’t jumped on the jumpsuit bandwagon yet but you made this look so great I just might need to rethink about it. Love the play with the kimono and you did an excellent job of alterations, it looks so much better this way. You have an amazing eye for the little details which make a huge difference.
I’m surprised you don’t have a jumpsuit yet Trina. I think you’d really look fab in one.
I love it all three ways. My fav is when it is styled with the kimono, but I agree, the fringes and trim would end up in my food or caught in a drawer or something.
looking gorgeous , and yes, POLYVORE is dangerous!

I’ve cut WAY back on my Polyvore sets. I was selling myself too much stuff! LOL
An elegant look, especially beautiful worn with this amazing Kimono. I had a black jumpsuit years ago, loved it but too impractical.
Have a great week!

You look fantastic, love the fringed kimono and the hat you’ve teamed it with.
I’ve got a slinky 1960s black number by Jean Varon, split to the belly button with very little left to the imagination. It looks good but I rarely wear it as I feel more me in colour. xxx
I think that might be why I felt more like myself when I added the kimono. I felt I was lacking colour.
I loved your jumpsuit, and the kimono too, but it seems the kimono was not so practical 🙂 though I love kimonos, as I said. I liked the second look, with brown, but my favorite one is the first look, with the amazing shoes! Then it really shows the beautiful of this nice jumpsuit, in my opinion and you look really super elegant and beautiful! I only wore jumpsuits some years ago, when I was thinner (like 4 years ago, only. Then something bad happened and I put on weight massively). Now I got to lose some kilos, not many, so I can’t wear a jumpsuit right now – I look like a barrel!

I think you’d look brilliant in a similar jumpsuit that defines your waist.
You look awesome in this jumpsuit! It is very flattering. I love the look of them, but my bladder is too small for them. 🙂
I love this classy black jumpsuit, the first pair of shoes and all those gorgeous tassel necklaces. My favorite look is the first – so chic. Though I love the fun, bright and boho appeal of the third outfit with that gorgeous kimono. =)
Take care, Ada. =))
