Okay…keeping it real, I call them my man legs.
And I got them from my Dad.
Hat – Gap, Booties – Browns, Socks & Sweater – TJ Maxx, Skirt – Guess – thrifted, Bag – Fossil – thrifted
Thanks Dad!
Now I know this would be considered a big fat
DON'T
in every fashion magazine out there.
"You're too old for this style."
"Your calves are too large and the horizontal stripes on the socks just accentuate this misfortune."
Good thing I don't take their advice.
The only one that judges my fashion choices is this one…
And as you can see since she wears the same damn furry pants each and every single day she isn't one to criticize.
You know the saying…
pugs in glass houses don't throw bones.
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
I may have just busted out laughing at your pug and the furry pants comment. Love your calves, they are awesome! I too am endowed in the calf area (my family says we have cows). I’d much rather see real people in real clothes, that’s why I don’t read fashion magazines.
Kristian says
I LOVE this style on you. There is something rather classic about a leather pencil skirt and brown sweater and hat somehow. Or maybe just the sweater and hat with the leather as the fun item 🙂
I don’t think your legs look odd in anyway with this. Glad you went for the look
Rachel says
Fashion magazines are usually wrong, anyway. What are these ‘rules’ of fashion they mention?

ADORABLE pug sighting FTW!!
I think you look FANTASTIC!! i love the outfit and we are so starting the striped slouchy socks with booties phenomenom!!
I do the slouchy socks with booties because my legs are skinny compared to my body and it helps balance everything. Plus i just LIKE to!!
Happiness at Mid Life says
She is so cute staring at you with her furry pants 🙂
I love this look and have been wanting to give it a try – now to find a perfect pair of socks to play with. I have muscular legs as well and always think booties probably doesn’t do me any good but I wear them anyways.
I think this is a DO!!! Looking great as always!

Oh yeah! Our cats are the best dressed in our house and never change their trousers either!
You’ve got gorgeous legs, you daft girl! Super sexy in that slinky leather skirt! xxx
Sue @ A Colourful Canvas says
Oh, your calves are so shapely! You look like you run, which is a compliment in Vancouver speak. I have big, unshapely calves, and really have a hard time getting boots to fit over them. I usually have to buy the wide-calf style, which are becoming a bit more common. I like this look on you, but my own stumps are not nearly so shapely. I am inspired to try this with skinny jeans and stripey socks though…I just have to bring out my boots. I’ve been resistant to fall really being here.
No Fear of Fashion says
That is funny… I hate booties with skirts and I hate little socks. So why do I like them in your outfit?? I have no idea but I do. Despite all the fashion don’t- arguments you presented and in spite of my hate for both of them, I like your outfit. I am puzzled. If I knew why I like it, I might know how to style myself.

PS good job, keep ignoring rules please.

Your calves are beautiful! I’d trade mine for yours any time!

You look grand, my girl! Those legs are legs to be proud of. And good for you not listening to the nay-sayers.

you have great legs! and always trust a pug when it comes to fashion, I say. Love this look, hat to boot-toe.

I have my dad’s legs too – but muscular legs mean we’re strong and healthy!

Hey what do you mean? You have great legs! I like your leather pieces in all your posts. Just the right length on your skirt with the sweater. Your pug is a doll!

Another example of a strange commonality between us…I too have beastly calves. But I must say, they came in handy during my bodybuilding era, as did my freakishly large lats. It does make it difficult to dress my tiny 5’2″ self…am I petite or am I a dude? Craziness I say. In any case, you my girl, are rockin’ the leather skirt and I love the socks with the booties…screw the muscular calves!

I am totally stealing the “cows” adjective. LOL
Suzanne says
Well to be fair someone of your youth they are pretty flexible on the rules. As long as you’re not pulling a “Miley” you are pretty much okay. When you get older the rule book get thicker. Enjoy the fashion freedom of your youth! : )
Suzanne says
That is the best reason ever.
Suzanne says
Ah we can be law breakers together and wear the booties with our man legs. We can start a gang called Man Legs Booties & Socks. MLBS. Soon everyone will want to be part.
Suzanne says
Boots can be a challenge to buy for us “well endowed” calf gals. I often try to find those stretchy ones.
Just another reason I should move to Vancouver, or better yet back to Victoria ; )
Suzanne says
Maybe you had a moment of temporary fashion insanity. I’ve had many of those.
Suzanne says
I’m going to write that on a t-shirt…always trust a pug when it comes to fashion ; P
Suzanne says
True.
Suzanne says
Doesn’t it make you want to get one??? ; P
Suzanne says
Wow…you were a bodybuilder. Hats off to you lady. That takes such dedication.
You are super tiny. That doesn’t show at all in your photos.
carmen says
You have great legs, Suzanne! That’s why you look so good in booties and short socks. I would look like Olive Oyl. I used to wish I had calves like yours, now I’m just glad I have legs! 🙂 The hat is beautiful and your little pug is adorable!
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Vicki @ WITK says
Bah, ignore the haters! You look cute in those socks. And dressy socks with shoes is totally on trend this fall 🙂
Val Sparkle says
Are you kidding? You have nice legs, and an enviable figure! This outfit looks great on you. I love the styling of the booties and the striped socks with that skirt, and you are NOT too old for it.
I love that look, and I feel like I might be a little old for it with bare legs, but I love booties with skirts and tights.
ani says
Hahaha Suzanne, you are always cracking me up, that furry Pants comment totally made my day :-D. To be honest, who in the Fashion industry put up those stupid unrealistic rules. You are beautiful the way you are and I love your own way how you create your Looks and give them a unique touch. Amazing how just a pair of socks can give an Outfit that fun touch.
Sorry I am so absent recently. It’s just so bussy right now that I dont find the time to comment.
