A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet up with some blogger friends and their partners in Niagara-on-the-Lake. I’m finally getting around to blogging about the fun we had and showing you what I wore.
We met two couples on different days, one after the next. When it rains it pours!
They chose one of the best times of the year to visit. Fall is beautiful in southern Ontario.
They might have been a tad early for the annual Fall display of colours, it wasn’t until this week that the leaves on the trees started to change.
If you like quaint little towns in a picturesque setting with some gourmet eats I would highly recommend Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is well known for its many local wineries and award winning ice wine.
We drove the 1.5 hrs to Niagara-on-the-Lake to meet up with Ally and Robin who were visiting Niagara Falls. When we left Mississauga it was a little chilly. In Niagara it was freezing! That is Canada for you, 22 C one day and only 7 C the next. I layered up a bit, but really should have had on my black wool cape on top of this as it was windy.
Leather skirt (sim on super sale), blazer (sim), scarf (sim)- all thrifted, Black boots (sim) & Hat (sim) (super old), Striped turtleneck (sim) – Marshals, Handbag – Vintage
We met for high tea at the Charles Hotel, a charming country Inn with homey decor and great food.
Robin, Ally’s wife was just a delight, warm, authentic and funny. I really like her! Of course Ally (aka Ralph) was her usual self, sweet, kind and a little bit reserved. We had a good time, I hope we get a chance to visit again soon.
The next day the delightful Trina and affable Par happened to be close-by in Niagara so we drove out to meet them at the same Inn.
Why the same place? It is very quiet, basically only us, intimate and ideal for chatting and relaxing with friends. Plus I knew Trina would appreciate the decor and attention to detail. This time we ordered off the menu and were even more delighted with the food. (No, I’m not getting paid for my endorsement, I just like the place.)
We had a wonderful visit. Our husbands got along like old school buddies. They both have Italian Mommas…need I say more?
Trina and Par are such a unique couple. Did you know they were both competitive skiers? That little Trina is just full of surprises.
I wore my new consignment dress to meet them with an overcoat. Once again I felt I wasn’t dressed warm enough and ended up buying a bright magenta hat at one of the boutiques in the village before we met them. Shame I didn’t get any photos of it.
Dress – consignment (new with tags still on!) (sim one that I LOVE but in a maxi), Boots – TJ Maxx (sim), Coat (sim insanely expensive!) – bought at a boutique in LA years ago
I wanted to wear brown tights with this, but realized I didn’t have any, thus why I’m wearing burgundy and it looks kind of weird.
Without a doubt the single best thing about blogging are the friendships and connections it has afforded me.
I am so very grateful for the added richness in my life.
