I’ve been coming across quite a few choice vintage skirts in my latest thrifting expeditions. This one in particular, reminds me of That 70’s Show.
As so often happens I picked up this vintage top on the same day. At least I think it is vintage. All of the labels have been cut out.
The front slit really sealed the deal for me on the skirt. It is a crying shame it doesn’t have pockets. It could have been the holy grail of all skirts.
I’m enamoured with this royal blue.
Oddly enough these diagonal stripes are quite figure flattering.
That 70’s Show Vintage Fashion
Vinyl brought all of that great 70’s style back to the forefront for me. I was very disappointed when they chose to cancel it. Not the least because of the mouth-watering fashion porn…

I’ll take all of what she is wearing minus the jeans. They don’t look comfortable nor are they figure flattering.
I’m devastated because I won’t get to look at this smouldering guy every week…

{sigh}
Yes I’m bummed. They cancel series too quickly now. I hate it when I’ve invested in two seasons and just when it is getting really good they pull the plug.
The show may be gone but my taste for 70’s style is still going strong.
Here are some of my other 70’s favourites…
Do you care for 1970’s style? Would you consider wearing it?
The winner of the Karina Dress will be announced on Friday. I sure hope you entered.

I wouldn’t pick the 70s as a top choice decade as far as fashions that I love, but you’ve really found some great pieces from the era. That skirt is very nice–I’ve had a skirt or two with a front slit and always thought they looked really cool.
The Seventies are my jam! My favorite period of all time. It’s when I grew up, came of age, and explored life. So, yes, the fashion from that period appeals to me.
You look fabulous in this outfit. So stylish, so cute. You look like my dream.
I think I wouldn’t even recognize it if I found it. The only 70ies things that is in my mind, are those Afghan coats (at leasts that is how we called them, the smelly skin of a goat type coats), the clinch bolts as a clasp on bags and the strings holding the left and right part of a T-shirt together at the front. Oh and the short suede skirts. All mini skirts.
So I would never have recognized this great blue skirt as 70ies. But A line never goes out of style. It is beautiful.
By the way I am probably the only woman who couldn’t care less about pockets in trousers, skirts or dresses. I have my bag with me, that is enough.

Fantastic skirt, just the kind of thing I might look at adding to my wardrobe this Autumn.
You know I love a bit of ’70s!
And yes, what is this whole thing about cancelling shows incredibly early on?! Here in the UK we have a WWII one called Home Fires, and they cancelled it after just 2 series. There’s been a massive petition to try and get it reinstated. Fingers crossed.. x
So cool that both those pieces are vintage! I’ve actually really been feeling the flares trend and just purchased some this past weekend.
Keep up the 70s vibes!

I love the 70’s. Just like Ali, that was my TIME. Unfortunately I didn’t look as pretty in all those earth tones as you do, but I love the styles. And yeah, why did they have to cancel Vinyl? I was so into it. I loved those little Betsy Johnson dresses that the office girls wore. And to answer your question: Yes! Hell Yes! I will wear 70’s fashion as long as I can rock it. Did you see Inherent Vice? Such authentic 70’s style in that film!!
The most recent film I watched with phenomenal 1970s style was American Hustle. Have you seen it?
We didn’t see Vinyl (terrestrial TV) but thought it sounded just up my street, didn’t Mick Jagger have a hand in producing it?
I love that skirt on you, the colour is perfect with the brown boots, bag and super cool stripey top. You look utterly fabulous and just like you’ve stepped out of a 1970s edition of a fashion mag.
You know how much I love 1970s style, other than late 1960s stuff I own nothing but.
Even if people don’t “get” the fashion, the 1970s is the decade that brought us Women’s Lib, the pill and sexual equality, encouraged us to burn our bras and told us that we were as good as any man so us girls should embrace it even if we don’t wear the clothes. xxx
PS This post didn’t update in my side bar.
I’m with you, still love the 70’s style. We must have had some great young teenage days (lol). That sweater is the best (I’m guilty of removing labels, can’t stand the feel on my neck).
You bet! Love this whole outfit, especially the way the pieces work together! I also love your floral and stripe maxi’s. I love vintage for the same reason you do, no one will be wearing it , and it is a great way to upcycle, So many great pieces, so few made in China!
LIke Trina, I often remove labels, they itch my back!

I don’t mind some of the styles from the 70’s but it was not one of my favourite eras for fashion. I do love this outfit on you though. The colours are amazing with your hair, and the lines of the top and the inverted pleat in the skirt draw the eye up and down so you look taller.
The 70’s have never been one of my favorites style-wise, but you make this all look so incredibly cool. But then again, you’re incredibly cool so I’m pretty positive you could rock any decade and make it fabulous!

love your 70’s treasures, and love your outfit!, you’ve created a funky vibe!. Love a nicely matchy ensemble, your striped top and striped bag, earthy colors, and your blue skirt!. And fabulous boots!
You really rock 70’s.
besos
Would I consider wearing it? Oh yeah. I used to gravitate more toward 50s and early 60s clothing, especially ones with bright novelty prints. Then it was just a natural progression to the 70s, because there are so many bold graphic patterns that I adore. And I find maxi skirts and dresses to be so comfortable to wear.
I love your “70s Show” look. The The diagonal striped top is fabulous with that skirt and the boots. Even if the top isn’t authentic vintage, it sure has the era appropriate combination of colors.
BTW, I too just found out about the cancellation of Vinyl and couldn’t believe it. I thought it was a great show. And, yes, the fashions were part of the reason I loved it.
Thanks for sharing your 70’s looks. They are fab! I still connect with the era and own a diagonal striped wrap dress that I wear with tall leather boots and hobo bag (vintage). I also still have some personal vintage pieces like a military style purple suede cape and a granny square sweater that I made myself. I hope the trend lasts a bit longer. I also love wearing flared jeans with boots, short tops and suede jackets. When you are thrifting do you ever run into dresses or jump suits in the style of Steven Burrows? I loved his looks but couldn’t afford them.
Oooh! Your outfit sounds amazing! And a purple suede cape? Swoon!!!
I’ve been buying up suede and plaid like there is no tomorrow. They are the quintessential fall pieces to me.
I have not come across any Steven Burrows type pieces…yet. You never know what surprises I may stumble across at one point. I scored a Fendi skirt last week. Now I just need to lose 5 lbs to wear it!
Woo, you look gorgeous in this outfit, you have created a great vintage vibe.
Thanks for popping by Bella : )
