My Mom took a very bad fall this past week and broke 3 of her ribs. She was just released from a week in hospital. I live on the other side of the country so when something like this happens I feel quite helpless.
This is my Mom, my brother and yep…that smiling baby is me. I know…I haven't changed a bit.
This just happens to be my Mom's vintage dress.
I just got it back from the tailor last week and was so excited to see what it would look like on me that I made an outfit right away even though I know I won't be able to wear it until summer.
I don't know if my Mom wore it for her graduation or her confirmation. I have 2 dresses of hers and she isn't sure which one was worn when.
Wearing a piece that my Mom wore is extra special to me. Kind of like I'm giving her a long distance hug.
I'm thinking about you Mom. Sending heartfelt thoughts for you to get better. Love you! XOX

Suzanne, first of all I hope you mom feels better soon. I know how that feels, I am pretty far away from my parents too and its a horrible feeling when you know you are helpless 🙁
this dress reminds me actually of a dres my mom had like 25 years ago, super vintage and I love how you made it look so girly with the polka dotted socks and yellow accessoires. Cant wait to see you wear it in the summer. LOVE IT!

Oh man, that’s got to be hard to get news like that and not to be able to go and be with her! It’s definitely a blessing that you have some of her dresses, though. I don’t think my Mom kept any of her clothes from when she was young

First of all … you will have so much fun in this wonderful dress, and you’ve styled it perfectly. Are you not the happiest girl in the world that you bought those little gold pumps?! How beautiful on you!
Second … let this be an object lesson for all women who are ruthless closet cleaners. If you have daughters, hang on to the best loved pieces! (If you only have sons, daughters-in-law may respond differently … but keep the good stuff anyway. The d-i-ls may love them as much as your own progeny. But even burnt in effigy, your clothes will still have a dramatic repurposing.)
Hope you mum gets better fast … poor baby.
