It always amazes me the things I can find when thrifting. I recently stumbled upon a cache of dead stock maxi dresses all made in Canada. The pattern design is stunning, a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns. This is truly a wearable art maxi dress.
Wearable Art Maxi Dress
I’ve styled this with my Elvis blue velvet booties but I will be taking this on our winter resort vacation in March. I’ll be pairing it with my wedge sandals at the resort. The dress is made out of super stretchy material and can be crushed into a ball in the suitcase and never wrinkle. The perfect travel dress.
I just realized you can see my sport socks. Sex-hay! Ha ha! Oops. Good thing I’ll be wearing sandals at the resort.
I purchased a couple more of these dresses as they all still had their tags on. I’ve got two for sale in my Etsy store, dress one, dress two. Both size M/L.
It is such a shame when Canadian companies aren’t successful in fashion even when their products are high quality unique pieces like this.
If you are interested I wrote a post about what to wear for a week at a resort when we last went to Cuba. Looking back it would appear that I’m addicted to this type of dress for my resort vacations. I think it is because the dresses are so comfortable and still make me feel good about myself.
Isn’t that the key to ideal dressing?
Comfort and style living in perfect harmony with each other.
Linking up with the lovely Patti for Visible Monday.

A stretchy maxi with a stunning print, which can be crushed without wrinkling: bingo! You hit a pot of gold when finding those dresses. I think finding deadstock is always exciting, but a little sad at the same time. Loving your sexy socks! xxx

you look fabulous in the dress! its perfect!
i do not take much dresses when packing for travel – my dresses are much heavier than this one – and i can wear them only once in the warmth. so i chose a skirt (or 2) with different little blouses – one for each day and one on reserve…. ;-D
and i don´t mind a bit of wrinkle……

I do remember the Cuban post! I love this dress and wow, you found many more in this style, all Canadian made? That’s great! I wish I found some like this one now, since 1) I love maxi and midi dresses ad skirts and 2) more important than that, that we don’t need to iron after taking them out of a suitcase!!!! I loved the boots and am looking forward to seeing the dress with sandals during your vacation! Hope you have a beautiful week, Suzanne, hugs!

I adore that sort of dress – a bit Ribkoff-y don’t you think? I can’t understand why it’s not easier to find dresses like this which flatter the figure and don’t crease. I guess it needs specialist cutting and fabrics which cost too much.

Stunning dress. It looks incredible on you. What a great find, but as you wrote, it’s a pity when these incredible designers can’t survive.
About the sports socks. Remember Bridget Jones’ Diary, how men supposedly love granny panties? I think the same applies about sports socks. Maybe? Sex-hay!!! Hahaha!

I never wear maxi dresses but I love the print!

It’s a gorgeous dress and you look lovely in it.
The blue boots are a perfect match, but I can see how great wedge sandals would look, too. It certainly sounds like the perfect travel dress – roll up it up and no wrinkles! Amazing.

I believe I’m going to start thinking of this particular style as the “Suzanne Dress”. You were wearing this style the very first time I met you in Arizona. The photo of you lying on your side in front of a spiky cactus garden in a that funky , form fitting, frock is a delightful photo memory. Your point about the comfort of this style in addition to its innate packability reminds me of how smart you are in addition to having those enviable curves.

Definitely a combination to love: looking good in something comfortable. And you do. You have the perfect figure for these dresses. They would make me look like a stick with broad shoulders.

A dress that’s both wearable art and form fitting like this is a real find and shows off your figure to perfection Suzanne. I yearn for a resort break at this time of year and do remember drooling over your shots last year. The roll up, crease free nature of this maxi is a no brainer and I can’t wait to see it modelled with sandals on the beach – lucky you!
