Making a point of recognizing what makes us happy on a daily basis adds value to our lives. Gratitude for the small moments that make up our days can improve our attitude and shape our lives.
What Makes You Smile On An Average Day?
Finding this funky vintage sweater vest on Ebay put a smile on my face.
Other Happy Moments I’m Thankful For Today
The cute guy that helped me in Walmart very early this morning was cheerful, had a great smile and made the process so much more enjoyable. Proof that positivity is contagious.
Listening to my pug snore is comforting and makes me happy.
Eating my own homemade multigrain oatmeal with apples and nuts warms me from the inside out.
Seeing the sunshine despite the frigid cold temperatures (-18 C with the windchill!) brightens my day.
Looking at videos of Brussel Sprout on Instagram makes me laugh out loud.
Stretching my body for fifteen minutes before I get out of bed is a gentle and satisfying way to greet the morning with a smile.
Emails from friends, especially if they are funny put a big smile on my face.
A great review from a satisfied customer in my Etsy store always makes me happy. Acknowledgement for the work and love that I put into my shop is truly rewarding. I adore my customers.
An hour of Netflix in the evening with the pug and the hubs is a relaxing way to unwind. It is always one of my favourite moments of the day.
Soothing yoga stretches before bed make me happy knowing I’m doing something good for my body and helps to prepare my mind for sleep.
These moments of mindfullness remind me that daily gratitude creates a positive attitude and more joy.
What about you? What makes you smile on an average day?

I love that sweater on you–it made me smile!
The birds that visit our balcony also make me smile.
The lady on the street who was wearing purple head to toe to encourage Spring to get a move-on already made me smile.
I also love the Netflix routine, but with my hubby or on my own.
So many good reasons to smile. Thank you for being a source of smiles as well.
Hugs,
Sherry

That tank top is fantastic, enough to put a smile on anyone’s face!
Exercise, finding cool vintage things (especially ones I can keep), unseasonably warm weather like we had in the UK last week, nights in front of the TV with Jon and the cats….the list goes on and on. I smile a lot!
Zoe is adorable. xxx
PS That lipstick doesn’t dry my lips out – it’s so good. You only need to put it on once a day, it just doesn’t budge. I’ve worn it almost every day for 6 months so a tube is amazing value for money.
That vest has all the sweet sincerity of a child’s drawing of home. I don’t purchase these kinds of whimsical pieces of clothing as often anymore but I’ll always love them.
Little Brussel Sprout and perhaps all pugs have a look of hopefulness in those buggy eyes. This sweater scene has that same vibe. Adorable.
Seeing birdies eating from our feeders, stocked with premium sunflower nuts and drinking from our heated bird bath is lovely. I’ve provided their essentials and it’s a simple joy seeing the birds thrive every morning. Imagine my dismay when my new, neighborhood, girlfriends told me they aren’t seeing as many birds at their feeders this year… I confessed to my husband that we’d “taken” all the birds!
Another vote for the birds. Their antics on the suet balls keep me amused as I do dishes. And my buddy Merle (French for blackbird), who is now my wake-up call.
My kid’s belly laugh when looking at Instagram feeds like Brussels Sprout’s.
Inspired by you and Not Dead Yet, I went to a couple of second-hand shops yesterday. Granted, it’s a small city and we don’t have a ton of them. I scored a good summer dress but was mostly disappointed in the selection. Expensive! Far too many dropped-waist dresses–every time the detail hit right at the broadest point of my broad hips. I saw some utterly gorgeous shoes, but far too small. Sniff!
listen to my cat´s snoring….. 😀

are good examples of everday happiness.
love your new “westover” (how we call it here)
xxxx
Good choices. Cute clothes and friendly encounters top my list, too. It’s important to look for joy instead of wallowing in sadness or expecting happiness to come to us.
That tank top is so cute! It reminds me – promise not to laugh – of one of my vintage Barbie outfits. That alone is enough to put a smile on my face. What else? Waking up to a sunny day. The radio playing a favourite song while I’m having breakfast. My clothes: just opening my wardrobe doors, and seeing that rainbow of colour puts me in a good mood. Having coffee with a friend or browsing in my favourite vintage shop during lunch break. Talking over our respective days with Jos. Seeing Phoebe’s funny little face, and yes, she snores as well. Reading a good book. Blogging. The list really is endless. I’m one of those people who can be happy with the simplest of things. xxx
My husband always laughs at me when he watches me reply to comments from the blog and even Instagram, because they really do make me happy. It’s that communication and personal things that make you feel a connection!!
Now the important question is what did Melanie tell you to make you laugh for the camera… inquiring minds want to know!!

My brother telling me dad jokes, my kids performing anything, also a customer being happy— super cute vest!!
The flowers behind you look like they’ve come bursting straight out of the chimney on your vest! That made me smile 😀

I love your vest – it looks like a painting! It made me smile…
Apparently I smile a lot as I get lots of people smiling at me in the street!
Finding a nice garment at a reasonable price in a charity shop makes me smile. Eating cake makes me smile as does eating chocolate. Walking in pleasant weather in the countryside makes me smile. Talking to friends and family makes me smile. Reading my favourite blogs makes me smile. Eating dinner with my family makes me smile. Seeing the birds feeding at my feeding station makes me smile. Visiting my friends and having them visit me makes me smile. Going to Ireland makes me smile. Reading a good book makes me smile. I could go on…
Have a lovely week and I won’t complain about the cold again – I can’t imagine -18 degrees Celsius – it certainly wouldn’t make me smile!
xxxxx
My face is quick to smile. So many things make me happy and I don’t take anything for granted. When I hear my neighbors complain about the weather, I think of the massive snowstorms and the typhoons in other places in the world. For goodness sake we had a 71° day today!
Since you asked.. Instagram posts of my daughter and her travels makes me smile. She is currently in Hong Kong. Sweet little children on the streets make me smile. Little old ladies walking down the street with fierce determination, make me smile. Hearing the voice of my son makes me smile. The long shadows of up late afternoon makes me smile. Freshly ground cinnamon in my coffee makes me smile. Even the way my husband burps makes me smile.
OK I know how weird that sounds so I will just stop here. ..
Love your sweater vest.. and smiling is contagious. Bring it on.

Oh a whole lot makes me smile. Ron’s jokes, people who are friendly to me, no rain, a parking spot etc. And yesterday, a presentation of a supplier which was bang on. Just what I needed. Such a refreshing thing to happen after having fights with the advertising agency about so many things.

An unexpected compliment, a head butt from Sylvester (cat), a snuggle with our office dog, a phone conversation with a friend who lives far away, a new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race on Netflix, and definitely sunshine after days of grey, rainy weather.
